My plane is flying in to JFK Wednesday, and I'll have 5 hours before my next plane takes off, so I kinda want to go to Times Square for a while. :)

It's a $45 flat fee (plus tip and toll, depending on the route there may not be a toll) from JFK to anywhere in manhattan.
Why go to Times Square if you only have five hours? go downtown, or to a museum, or to Central Park.

Cheapest and fastest dont mix, espeically in NYC. With a 4 hour layover, public transit is just not a good option. Even a taxi wont give you alot of time, but I would go with that. If you leave the airport around 3pm, it should only take 20-25 mins to get into the city, since traffic is light. But you are going to have to leave to go back to the airport around 430, since traffic can be bad at that time. That only gives you an hour at most, not sure if it is worth it.

I would say about $85. So say $160 to $200 round trip. I would say not bad for a "layover" Should be up to an hour each way, so you have three long hours in Times Square. Great idea, I do it all the time. I wanted to go to Africa but I went to Europe and then went there. Snuck around the $3000 plane ticket price. End up costing ,me $1900 but was 14 days long instead of 2 days. Guess what? Saved $1100 and I LOVED IT!!! Saw the world aaaaand arrived at my original destination. What a wonderful time. I went back the same way...

believe me.. i live in the ny area and jfk is pretty far from times square i dont think you'd really have time to go there and even if you did get there you'd probably like spend an hour and then have to leave... the cab fare would be insane...especially if you go from jfk to times square then back to jfk...sorry :(
