Well I 95 is a nightmare but you may want to include parts of it just because there are so many miles.

Get to the Outer banks of NC and keep driving and taking the ferries--just beautiful.

Jamestown and Williamsburg (and Virginia beach) is cool and full of history.

Don't miss Charleston SC and Savannah GA--phenomenal!

Sanibel Island in FL is nice.

Stick to the "Blue Highways" like William Least Heat Moon did. The blue highways are the smaller roads on the map that were the main routes before the interstate...Keep a journal...You could be like Steinbeck in "Travels with Charley" !!!

What a great idea--I envy you.

try rt 15 (don't know how far south it goes) mountins in va, rts 1 & 301 towards richmond. RT 1 goes from the tip of the keys to maine so i know it goes all the way. take 64 (highway) i forget what routes go east to west

Interstate 95 goes from Maine to Miami.

This would be a nice drive.
