We want to save up (might take a few years) to travel to the US, hire a car and drive the full length of Route 66 (yes, we are suckers for the film "Cars"). How much money do you think we would need to save (we are in the UK)?

Ok so I am planning a trip to Florida for late April or early May. I plan to spend about 4 or 5 days in Orlando doing the theme parks and also am going to take a short Bahamas cruise out of Port Canavarel.

Here's the dilemna:
The 3 night cruise costs about $350 per person and the 4 night cruise costs about $250 per person. The 3 night cruise is on the weekend and the 4 night cruise is midweek. So basically if I take the short cruise it's more expensive but I can visit Orlando mid-week, whereas if I take the longer cheaper cruise then I would be spending my time in Orlando on the weekends before and after the cruise.

Should I pay the extra money and take the shorter cruise so that I can explore the theme parks midweek? Are the themeparks THAT much busier on weekends at this time of year that it would be worth passing on the longer cruise that costs less?

Which would you choose?

I'm an african american college student and I have familiy coming to Boston from out of town. I was looking at hotels in North Boston and generally outside of the city. I've heard that it was either North or South Boston that was very prejudiced-I can't remeber. Do any native Bostonians (preferably of color) have any recommendations for where I should NOT book a hotel-either due to an unsafe environment or prejudiced environment? Thanks!

Hello. My fiance and I are moving to Silicon Valley and I am looking for advice on the best areas to live. Ideally, we would like to be able to walk to a variety of bars, restaurants, and shopping. Something inbetween urban and residential suburbs. We also have two small dogs, so somewhere near a dog park would be ideal (but not necessary). Any suggestions?

I have been dating an Egyptian guy for a little while now. It's not quite a serious relationship yet but we are spending a lot of time getting to know each other. So far we haven't come across any serious barriers in terms of cultural differences etc. I am just wondering if anyone else has any experience dating Middle Eastern guys, but more specifically Egyptian guys? He is from Alexandria, can you tell me anything about what type of city this is (conservative, liberal etc.)? Are there any big cultural differences between Egyptian culture and that of other Middle Eastern countries? What are some things that I should consider or definitely ask him about to help me determine a little more about our compatibility?

Please don't give me answers bashing Muslims and Islam; there is enough of that on the news for me to understand that point of view. I am looking for insightful, constructive comments and to learn about the experiences of others.
Thanks!

I'm planning a last minite trip to disney and all the hotels are booked if I want to stay in the same one for the entire 4 night trip. I am able to book 3 nights at pop century and 1 night at animal kingdom lodge. Has anyone done this, switching between hotels, and is it a good idea? Any advice would be great, thanks!

Every single time I have to fly somewhere, my flight is on time. This sucks because whenever people talk about flight delays and how slow airports are, I can't participate in the discussion.

Any tips on getting delayed flights?

I am traveling to Greece from the USA in May.
Do many people speak English there? We are wanting to talk to relatives and learn some family history since our family came to the US from there about 1900. We know they came from the island of CHIOS. Can anyone help or make suggestions on what to do and How do you get from Athens to Chios?

Boyfriend and I want to go somewhere nice and hot, and I have heard of the Disney cruises, where the kids are basically entertained as thoroughly as the adults are. there are events and things that keep the kids 'babysat' in the best possible way, while it gives the grown-ups a chance to go out and explore, or just relax....does anyone know more info about these, had experiences, know of prices, etc.
we're in canada, so i guess that might need to be considered as part of the departure.
or are there other suggestions for fun family holidays?

I'm an American and I would love it if my country would adopt some kind of socialized health care insurance. I hear about the Candian one all the time, both positive (from people saying they want to move to Canada for their progressive thinking) and negative (from people who are against it and say that Canadian health care is a mess and there are long waiting times, and doctor shortages, etc).
When did you switch to socialized health insurance? How do you like the change? What are some of the positive and negative effects?
