I would like to know what cheeerio means? So if u guys could take the time and fill me in that would be great thanks.

Cheerio means 'goodbye'! But you don't really hear South Africans using it! We prefer to use 'cheers'!

EDIT: that reminds me (what Motti said)...South Africans also use 'ciao' a lot!

South Africans use the word 'cheers' as goodbye and cheerio is just an extended version or more casual version of it too. I would say it's similar to saying ciao :-)

Cheerio is a British expression and means - Goodbye.

Ciao is Italian and can be used as both a greeting and a farewell so it bears no relation to Cheerio.
