I'm planning a last minite trip to disney and all the hotels are booked if I want to stay in the same one for the entire 4 night trip. I am able to book 3 nights at pop century and 1 night at animal kingdom lodge. Has anyone done this, switching between hotels, and is it a good idea? Any advice would be great, thanks!

My family loves to change hotels mid stream. We like getting to enjoy the benefits of more than one resort. Last year we did 2 nights at Yacht and Beach Club and were right in Epcot. It was so easy to just walk over and have fun, and then walk back to the hotel when we were ready. After 2 days in Epcot, we switched to the Polynesian and spent 2 days enjoying the Magic Kingdom. The monorail and ferrys make getting there so easy instead of waiting and catching a bus back to another resort.
This year we are considering 2 nights at Wilderness Lodge and then 2 nights at Animal Kingdom.
Lots of people switch hotels mid stream. They are used to this request. Disney resorts, with enough notice, will even get your bags over to the next hotel for you.
In my opinion, it's the best way to enjoy Disney.

I would definitely recommended booking just one hotel for the entire 4 nights. Disney is very overwhelming and you will hardly be in your room. You'll just use it for sleeping. You will have so much less stress staying in one place and not having to relocate on your last day. The Disney transportation system works quite well and you can easily transfer each day from the hotel to the parks. But, you can not transfer from hotel to hotel using the bus system. Pop Century is not as beautiful as Animal Kingdom and is considered a budget property, however, if you are traveling with kids, they will be very happy with it. You of course, would propably enjoy the Animal Kingdom, but, since it's not available, I would book the Pop Century. You'll be happy that you saved money and stress. Once booked, you can always keep checking if something else opened.

It's not terrible to do, but it also isn't too fun either. You will need to check in the first night of your stay, then check out the next night, then check in at the second hotel and check out on your final night. So that is a little extra work there. Then, you will need to be able to get from one hotel to the next. If you have your own car or a private transfer, this is not a problem, but otherwise it can be a little bit of a hassle. If you trust that things will go okay, Disney will transfer your luggage from one resort to the next. Otherwise, you will need to take your own luggage.

In order to get from one resort to the next, you will need to get on the bus, ride to a park or Downtown Disney and then get on another bus back to your next resort. It can take a little while to do, usually around an hour.

If you have kids, or a large party, or a lot things that you need to keep with you (such as medications, purses, etc. that you don't want to get lost or delayed from you getting them for a while) it isn't too bad. If not, it can take some time.

I don't think I would not take the extra night because of transferring hotels, it gives you an extra day in Disney, so it is worth the extra time it takes to get around.

I usually stay at the deluxe resorts or villas, but when a new resort opens, I like to stay there just to see what they are like (Pop Century for example) so I will book a night or so there and then go back to my normal hotel. I usually take a private transfer so I go right to and from, so it isn't a big deal at all. But, I have taken the bus before and didn't have any problems.

I hope this helps, have a great time in Disney.

Go for it. Hopfully, Animal Kingdom will be last on your agenda as it is much nicer than Pop Century.

When I travel, I switch hotels all the time. It's not a huge hassle. We typically go to Universal and stay at the resort, but it's so expensive that we only stay there for about half the time and then go to a cheaper hotel. It's not a big deal at all.

You can switch hotels- it's not like you have to travel far. Pop Century is very basic- not that you would spend too much time at the hotel anyway BUT- the Animal Kingdom Lodge is awesome! You won't want to leave the hotel at all. It'll be worth the switch!!!

I alsways switch hotels because I get better prices that way. We are planning a trip to Disney Land this coming fall and we are not staying at the same hotel the whole time. It is more convient to stay at one, but they usually get you on the price that way. It can be a hassel, but I love to save money.
Have a great trip.

You absolutely should stay onsite! Yes, I don't see any problem with it, I'm sure that they're plenty of people whoe have done it just so that they could afford to stay at the AK Lodge (and Cinderella's Castle!!!). I think it's a great idea, as long as you make sure they do your park hopper right. It's so smooth (usually) checking in and out with disney, I think you'd be just fine! I'm so jealous! Have fun!!!

POP Century is the busiest lodge on assets. As effect, you will possibly be able to might desire to furnish your self slightly beyond usual time to get places because of the fact the bus lines would be longer for this hotel and you will possibly no longer get on the 1st bus that arrives. i might say plan for no less than 30-40 minutes wait and holiday time between all places. this might quite be genuine early interior the morning whilst the parks open and interior the evenings whilst the parks close. so some distance as dinner reservations, they are asserting to be on the hostess stand 15 minutes past on your reservation yet they'll carry your reservation for 10 minutes after the time. So this ought to help eliviate many of the stress of dashing to dinner.
