I saw a commercial and looked at a few websites and it looked nice, but I wondered what others who have actually been there think of it. Did you like your trip there? Are there affordable things to do as well as high-end things to do? Anything else you want to add?

I have a bet with a friend saying that I think that before puerto rico had 787 and 939 as area codes, it used to 809...I want to know if I'm right.

I browsed the internet and get nothing under $85. I will use a car for a week in March. There are many dozens of small towns, not so much touristic in P. R.. Will I easily find real cheap hotels when I will explore the Island by my-self? (I mean under $40)

We have two nights to stay after a cruise we are taking. We are in our early 30's and have no children. We like the outdoors and the beach, but we are not big nightlife people.

I was thinking of going to a travel agent but scared of getting ripped off, I was thinking of planning my own trip by investigating sites such as expedia.com, priceline.com etc but I've never planned a trip of my own before so I have no idea what's a good price for good quality.

Any tips?...btw, i dunno if it matters, but i'm planning on going to san juan puerto rico

I've heard nightmare stories of traveling to Mexico only to spend your vacation within 2 feet of your toilet. Is this the case in Puerto Rico or is the water the same as in the continental US?

"According to ancient Indian Legend, the good spirit 'Yuquiyu' reigned on his mighty mountain-top throne, protecting Puerto Rico and its people."

The El Yunque Rain Forest is a cool, mountainous, subtropical rainforest in Puerto Rico. The Eastern side of the Luquillo Mountains, which has the El Yunque rainforest at the top elevations, gets most of the rain. The winds must rise when they meet the mountains. This rising of the air mass causes the air to cool and release rain on the windward side.

Visiting El Yunque rain forest is only partly in the observation of the varieties of plants that have managed to grow and adapt to the copious amounts of year round rainfall. The magic of El Yunque is in the pristine beauty, the sounds, the quietness and the serenity.

So all the folks here that love nature, hiking and waterfalls this is a must. The rivers and waterfalls formed by all that water rushing back down from El Yunque to the sea are also very beautiful to see, and swim in.

Open to everybody, Puertorricans and non - Puertorricans.
Explain to me why your choice of status is best. I do not want fairy tales, like "Estadidad Jíbara" (for english speakers, Statehood with a native flavor), "Lo mejor de dos mundos" (the best of both worlds) or "Independencia con ciudadanía americana" (Independence with American citizenship). I want real answers, not diatribes. Do not be pulling strings at my heart regarding Olympic Games, Miss Universe, losing my culture, (I live in the U.S. and I am still as Puertorrican as the ones on the island), blah, blah, blah. I am interested in the welfare of all Puertorricans, not the few lucky ones that get to participate in these events. If nobody answers with a real argument that can hold water, do not expect ten points. Be real serious and honest about it. Puerto Rico has to decide sooner than later what it wants to be for good, so this is your chance to show that you understand the issue of the status of Puerto Rico fully.
