I browsed the internet and get nothing under $85. I will use a car for a week in March. There are many dozens of small towns, not so much touristic in P. R.. Will I easily find real cheap hotels when I will explore the Island by my-self? (I mean under $40)

Yes $85 is a good price in PR. But, yes there are really cheap local motels in the small towns in PR. However, I definitely wouldn't reccomend them! But if you really dont care about the place then I will list some places for you in small towns. The only thing is, do you speak spanish? It will be difficult to stay in the small towns if you dont Call for the exact price, but I know some will be under $40. Goodlk! If you have a car then drive & see the the sights like El Yunque rain forest & the biobay. Enjoy
PS. if u dont know spanish then 'Carr' is short for 'Carretera' which means Highway

You could try guest house and, yes there are hotels of 85

well Mario's hotel, green isle (guest house) are less than $85.00 but they're not 5 stars hotels....
