Ok. I can tell you exactly what people wear. I am from the US & I have family from PR. So being an outsider looking in, its better to tell you, b/c someone who lives there says they wear what everyone else wears. Also no the do not dress like Miami that much. Miami men wear lots of Guayabera's (cuban button shirts) & they do not wear that much in PR. & women in Miami wear much less clothing.

Ok so in PR it is hot all year so people dress to stay cool, summer clothes, you know. Girls like to look nice. More than americans. They dress up more on a regular basis. They wear alot of tight fitting clothing. But they do cover up more than some americans. Most girls will dress sexy but not wear mini skirts & belly shirts unless at the beach. Women like to wear anything in style & they like the belt to match their shoes. The shirt & purse dont have to match. They like jewelery & having their hair & nails & makeup done, etc.

In general puertoriquenos wear jeans & tops(women) or t-sirts (men). Also people that work in offices dress in business attire. Men wear basketball apparel sometimes b/c its a big sport in PR also. Like Nike shorts & basketball sneakers etc. In the younger guys(teens etc) they have 2 big styles. 1 is a surfer look. They might wear a quicksilver t-sirt w/ a shell necklace & flipflops (called choncletas). & then there is a more hiphop style too (b/c of the huge reggaeton scene now). Where they wear baggier clothes & hiphop brands like rocawear & sneakers even jamiacan bracelets & bob marley shirts. Of course there are more styles. like rocker, etc. but not as popular. & older women wear some cotton grandma nightgowns for bed & sometimes cleaning the house, lol.

The weather recently has been off and on rain, but still the sun comes through and the temperature has been between 85 and 88 degrees. Here is what you would want to bring to wear: If you are planning on walking the streets of any of the towns you can wear your summer dresses with flipflops or sandles. Shorts is not too bad and tank top blouses. Now be discreet in the shorts and dress length because many place don't mind short shorts or short dresses and skirts but some places will mind so check the lenght not too up above the knees. Since weather is variable you can bring bring umbrellas or better yet buy an umbrella here. Rain coats will be too hot to wear here and no one wears rain coats, but yes they wear rain ponchos which are more lighter than a coat. Yes, bring jeans because that is a common style for sightseeing, shopping, walking streets of the towns, just for every place except fancy restaurants. I do not nor have ever been to a bar or club here, but I have seen that girls wear low v cut dress, the v cut depends on how much you want to show. Along with the dress nice heeled sandles are worn. Some wear pant suits or nice slacks and blouses. If you plan on hiking, bring the boots, the socks the long pants long sleeve shirt and hat. Some wear shorts for hikes, but if it is in the mountain ranges, long pants are great. All in all you can dress like you were back home only difference is that it is a bit hotter here and there is off and on rain. I just told you what you can bring. If you want, here there are stores such as Macy's, Old Navy, JC Penney, Sears, K-Mart, Walmart, Sams, Cosco, Armani Exchange, Kress, Marianne(These two last ones are only womans clothing and the in styles of today). So you can bring a few things and shop here or bring what you prefer. Many stores here do have discounts from 10 to 30% off. Payless has BOGO always. Kress and Marianne always has sales and instyle clothes for every age and size. As for jewelry, you can wear it. But for hiking I suggest not. Make up, yes but since we have warmer weather here than in the States you can use light make up because too much base is not good in the heat. Suggestion. Carry those damp face wipes like the ones Dove has or your prefered brand in your purse so if your face needs a freshen up you have those wipes on hand, baby wipes on hind will do well also so as to avoid acne from the heat. If you have long hair you can wear it long or to feel cooler, up in a pony tail or a style that suits you when hot weather is in. But best of all is to feel comfortable and cool. No heavy clothing is needed. For the beach, bring your bathingsuit, and lotion. Hope this helped you out.

Clothing, what else do you think?

We are in the tropic so expect clothing suitable for hot tropical weather. When raining expect umbrellas.
Shirts, pants, skirts, blouses, dresses, polo, denim, T shirts, socks, shoes, sandals, tennis shoes, glasses, sunglasses, wrist clocks, jewlery. Rappers use blin, blin. No need for coats or warm clothing.
Executives, lawyers, bankers, others wear business suits and ties. Swimmers and surfers use swinsuits. Basketball players use basketball uniforms.

Same as the people of Miami, Florida.
No multicolored beach shirts that stereotypes Hollywood put to characters in tropical areas in the movies, no one uses those.

tshirts, polo shirts, long sleeved light shirts when it gets a bit cold, halters, dresses whether long or short. suits, sneakers, shoes, sandals, jeans long or short, cloth pants, long sleeved shirts for dinning out. bikinis but not gstrings you cannot go topless here at beaches this is not Europe where you can bathe in the nude.
whatever clothes you like just make sure its not heavy because you don't want to get heat exhaustion. here the temp is always 80-90 degrees. you never know exactly when its going to rain. sun can be out and boom it starts raining or vice versa the clouds can be dark and no rain. well, as I mentioned wear whatever makes you comfortable .yes women can wear mini skirts here as long as she is not showing her underwear and has some shorts underneath to avoid giving a peep show to anyone.

Well the climate is always tropical, so people basically wear stuff that keeps them cool. Some parts of PR is acutally very stylish. Shorts, shirts basically its kinda like miami clothes. At work, they wear clothes that are supposed to be worn for work but at night people like to dress up and look very stylish! Women in PR do like to wear stuff that is stylish and try to look sexy and men dont need help to look sexy-they already are! lol =]

They wear the same type of clothing you would wear in a tropical climate during the day. All the women that go to business dress very corporate. Suits and dresses. At night everyone gets very dressed up when they go to clubs or hotel functions. They dress to "the nines". Very impressive.

Hope that helps.

Young people usually go out in jeans and T-shirt, it's too hot to have anything else. Maybe a mini skirt or shorts light clothing.

I like females in jeans. It makes them look more city like and it doesn't look like they are trying too hard but if you are trying to get this fellas attention, this may not be what you would like
