What is the best way to plan a trip?

I was thinking of going to a travel agent but scared of getting ripped off, I was thinking of planning my own trip by investigating sites such as expedia.com, priceline.com etc but I've never planned a trip of my own before so I have no idea what's a good price for good quality.

Any tips?...btw, i dunno if it matters, but i'm planning on going to san juan puerto rico

Ok I go to Puerto Rico alot & I always plan my own trip. I always find that orbitz.com has the best prices from the US to PR over other sites. If you click 'flexible' dates they will give you extra options on dates that might have better prices. & after you buy the tickets they give you options to rent a car or purchase tickets for tours & activities. You can also check other sites like expedia.com & travelocity.com etc until you find the right price.

Also you need to come up w/ a budget & decide how much you want to spend on a hotel. Hotels in San Juan can be very expensive, so look at sites like hotels.com & tripadvisor.com for good prices & good quality. & just note that Nov- April is high season in the caribbean & everything is more expensive. Also staying outside of San Juan can give you more for your money, but you will first decide what you want to do while you are there. So research PR before you make your plans.

In PR obviously San Juan is wonderful to visit. Old San Juan is beautiful & 'El Morro' fort is an ancient spanish fort overlooking the ocean. There is shopping, nightlife, casinos, restaraunts, etc. Plus nice beaches like Isla Verde & water activities. But there are also things to do outside of San Juan. Decide if these things are right for you first & then you can decide to either stay in San Juan & take tour trips to these places or stay outside of San Juan & rent a car. Thats up to you.

Some great things to see outside San Juan are 'El Yunque' Rain forest in Fajardo(east coast) there are bus trips here from San Juan. You can hike down & swim in the refreshing La mina waterfalls. Also There is a bioluminescent bay in Fajardo & another one in Vieques(a small island off the coast of Fajardo that you can take a ferry ride to). So after you see the rain forest you can go to one of these bays. The water glows in the dark when you touch it, its amazing! Take a kayak tour. Also the islands of Vieques & Culebra have gorgeous beaches! You can also see Camuy Caves, the 3rd largest caves in the world! & Arecibo telescope, the biggest radio telescope in the world -also seen in movies Contact & James Bond Goldeneye. The caves & telescope are together in 1 bus trip from San Juan. Also the Bacardi Factory is a popular tour too.

You've done the first part by choosing a location, the next step is to decide on a date and a budget. Also think about a hotel, and preferences such as location, and amenities. The next thing I do is to look at airfare to see the average price for tickets. Then I look at various hotel prices. Once I have an idea of hotel and air prices, I look at various package deals to see if they are cheaper. I know it may sound complicated but its not, I travel frequently and always plan my own trips. some tremendous stops are South of the Border and the state welcome centers. The florida welcome middle supplies free orange juice so be sure you're making a stop there! be sure you've something to occupy the little ones because it does get very boring contained in the motorcar for an afternoon or 2. a great position to stay in Disney international is the coastline and YACHT club. that is tremendous for little ones and adults. I absolutely have stayed there for each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days I absolutely have gone to Disney international and that is this style of thrill to achieve there each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. they have a great arcade, options-blowing present keep, tremendous ice cream parlor, tremendous eating places, spectacular pool, spectacular slide, and that is in strolling distance to the DISNEY BOARDWALK, MGM, and EPCOT. you're just about contained in the middle of Disney international. yet another relaxing element to do at the same time as staying on the coastline and YACHT club is p.c. boating. they have their own little lake that you'll be able to take a p.c. boat and journey round. that is a great time! i can reccomend to you a spectacular food market. It accomodates all of your desires. that is termed CROSSROADS. that is ideal outdoors of Disney international, below 5 minutes from the coastline and YACHT club. they have each and everything there from chips to wine. For eating out, you'll absolutely favor to flow to EPCOT. Epcot has something talked about as the international show off. the international show off has many countries in it which includes France, Morraco, Norway, Germany, tremendous Brittain, Africa, Canada, Unites States, and Mexico. each and each and every u . s . has a eating position except Africa. all of them have spectacular and ethnic ingredients. a great position for the little ones in EPCOT is THE living SEAS eating position. you're ingesting underwater and observing the sea animals round you. that is a spectacular journey. you should also make a journey to CITYWALK it extremely is a free section before entering oftentimes happening. they have spectacular eating places there too. i propose JIMMY BUFFETS MARGARITAVILLE. i wish you're taking this suggestion and use it! have relaxing in Florida!

Just go, search webfare for a couple of month to grab the deal, sometime agent has better deal than websites especially package including ticket, hotels and parks.
