I was suspicious about your remark that they always give the host the easiest group -- I dunno -- but then I saw this at paddocktalk:

"Prior to Wednesday’s Draw, CONMEBOL announced today [also Wednesday] that the USA will be in a group with Argentina and face them on June 28. In addition, CONMEBOL announced that Mexico will face Brazil on June 27 and the host Venezuelans will open the tournament on June 26 against Bolivia."

So, the "invitees" have been grouped with the powerhouses, and the host with the 12th seed ... but it's hard to have an "easiest" group when there are just three of them.

Another interesting thing: At the official site for the Cup, the Venezuelans have pictured the flags of only 11 of the 12 competing nations. Guess which one isn't shown?

Just for laughs, I'll say here that Mexico wins all the bolitas after falling short in the Gold Cup. (Viva Mexico.)
