Ryanair's chairman claims that their service provides a plane to take you from A to B and that is all. If you want anything extra, you pay extra. Next step will be to copy 3rd world airlines where you carry your own luggage out to the plane.

It depends on the airline. Some no frills airlines such as Southwest do not have satellite TV which would make the flight seem a bit longer while JetBlue has satellite TV so I could easily do a transcontinental flight from New York or Boston to the west coast. Also know that most discount airlines that operate in the U.S. use smaller aircraft which are capable of only flying at most around 6 hours or 2,500 miles. However there is also AirAsia which flies internationally from London to Malaysia which is around 13 hours. I don't think they have a personal in-flight entertainment system so I would not be able to last very long on a flight like that.

Ryan air, no booked seats no food on flight, take more money off you at check in and have you waiting for over an hour at check in thus making you fashionably late for the flight!!

No frills basically means no food/beverage service - many times no advanced seat assignments -

i have heard stories in the past where people had shipped themselves in boxes on planes. That's no frills.
