What I am looking for is a reputable, intensive school of Portuguese for a week or two. My level right now is intermediate. I would like to be in Salvador de Bahia, so I am looking for a good, reputable school and decent accommodation. Thank you for any information.

I have a friend living and working in Japan who would like a dog. This person does not believe in purchasing one from a store (major puppy mill problem there) and unlike the US, there really isn't another way to easily find a dog, especially when looking for a certain breed/size/age/etc. In my US city there is a major pet overpopulation problem. The pound is currently working closely with the two main animal rescues, but they are constantly filled up, leaving many dogs and cats to die.

So, I propose to adopt a dog from here, and somehow send it to them. My problem is, I'm not sure where to go to find out what I need. I all ready know it will be somewhat expensive, but how expensive, really? What paperwork do I need? What records (besides obvious rabies) will be needed? What kinds of things does my friend need (like time of residency, or anything like that). Where can I talk to people who have shipped animals to Japan and can give advice and tips? More information I'll need?

Does any one know anything about the Turk and Caicos Islands? I'm thinking of taking a job over there (on Provo), and have done lots of reading on the internet about the islands. But I'm trying to get a better idea about what life i like there- what is the social scene like? Are there many young people? Are there many expats? Also, what sort of salary does a person need to live comfortably (as I hear it is an expensive place to live)?

Any feedback is appreciated.

If it is considered impolite to use the words "aku" for "I" and "awak" for "you" in Bahasa Melayu, why do the subtitles in Malaysian television use those words instead of "saya" and "kamu"?

I am from Australia and want to backpack from Miami, Florida up to New York. I can spend up to $500USD/month on transport. I don't mind driving on the wrong side of the road (!) so hiring a car would be good, I just travelled around europe and the train system is excellent. Is there anything like that in the US? I would like to spend about 5 weeks travelling.

Hello! I am going to China (Guangzhou - Shenzhen - Hong-Kong).
Could you please advice nice hotels/hostels in these cities? Close to the city center, $ 50-80.
If you know the cheapest flights from Amsterdam, NL - I would also be grateful.
Do they require usual chinese visa to visit HK, or some special one?
I heard that after visiting HK they require new visa to mainland China. Is that true?
Thanks a lot!

Hello, I'm planning to go to New York for New Years to ring in the New Year. I'm wondering if there's a parking lot right near Times Square that offers very cheap Parking. I'm planning to arrive at about 11:30 and I don't want to pay more than $20. I'd prefer indoor parking.

Hi, I have a Colombian boyfriend and he would like me to visit his country and maybe live there. It's very expensive to fly there but when I get the money I would love to visit. I am just not sure how safe it would be.

And do you think it would be ok for me to live there? I'm really pale with pale blonde hair, I think I will stick out like a sore thumb. I am not rich at all but I'm pretty middle class. I am a student. What do you think? He lives in the north of Bogota...
