Hello, I'm planning to go to New York for New Years to ring in the New Year. I'm wondering if there's a parking lot right near Times Square that offers very cheap Parking. I'm planning to arrive at about 11:30 and I don't want to pay more than $20. I'd prefer indoor parking.

In a nutshell, nothing of what you asked is realistically feasible. Put it this way, I used to work in the Viacom building which is smack in the middle of Times Square, and all non-essential workers are under orders to leave the building by 3PM just for the sheer fact that there are so many people in the area by the afternoon of New Year's Eve. The city also blocks off the area to vehicular traffic well in advance so driving (which is already a pain in midtown) will not be permitted. $20 parking is virtually non-existent, and it only costs more to park during New Year's Eve. In short, its not happening.

Please use public transport if you are still planning on going to see the ball drop. You will seriously be glad you did.

First of all, people start arriving at 8 in the morning for New Year's Eve! Secondly, there's no such thing as cheap parking in NYC at any time of the year. You can't get parking for $20 anywhere in midtown. For $20, you'll get maybe an hour of parking on a good day, but you're not going to find anything at 11:30. You certainly won't be allowed to drive in anywhere near Times Square. Streets will be blocked off for pedestrians, the streets will be packed with people. Public transportation is your best bet.

Indoor parking is very expensive first of all. Secondly, many streets will be blocked off in the area. Thirdly, all the indoor parking will be taken up. Also, if you park on street, good chance is that your car will be moved. Don't drive in. Secondly, people show up about 10 hours early to get a good spot to see the ball. If I were you, I would train it in to the city, find a nice bar with some friends, drink and watch the ball on tv.

If you are insist on driving into the city, do it 24 hours ahead of time and pay for parking for 2 days and stay in a hotel. Not the $20 you were hoping for but that is the only way for you to do it.

You can't be serious ?
Even on a normal day you pay $20 an HOUR to park in the Times Sqaure area. There will be no vehicular traffic on either Broadway or Seventh Avenue as of approximately 4:00 p.m.
If you want to be any where the ball you have to be there by 8 PM at the latest.
Even if you do come, there are no public restoms.

You want to arrive at Times Square at 11:30 PM and park your car?

No way no how!

Throw that idea out the window. First off, Times Square will be blocked off much earlier in the day. Secondly, with thousands of people there, the last thing (and I mean last thing) you want to deal with is your car.

Park your car well away from Times Square. There are plenty of lots on the West Side/Upper West Side which would be a quick subway ride.

And I dont think you will be able to park your car for several hours for $20. I'm thinking $40 or so.

The best thing is to avoid the car altogether. Take a train in if you are coming from out of town. But of you def want to bring your car, then park it well away from Times Square.

If you want to try to find parking, you'd have to be there way before 11:30, and parking for $20, you won't find, maybe $20-$40 an hour. I suggest you take the train because they close the street by there in the afternoon. Good luck
