The color Bordeaux comes from Bordeaux wine, which of course is from the Bordeaux region of France.
Bordeaux, not to mention it's wines, are so legendary that it's name has been leant to numerous items
There's the dogue de bordeaux, a good sized dog breed. Hooch from the movie 'Turner & Hooch' was a bordeaux.
There's the Bordeaux mixture, a fungicide used to control fungus in gardens, agro areas etc. It was developed in the vineyards of Bordeaux, so that makes sense.

Bordeaux in France, and Bordeaux the wine are named congruently because that is where the wine comes from. The colour comes from the wine I think.

Bordeaux France is where Bordeaux wine originated. The color Bordeaux is from the color of the wine. So there is your connection. The color got the name from the wine and the wine got the name from the city (actually the vacinity).
