forget the airport express (one of the MTR lines)....it's a rip off and it's not even as fast as the bus. Buses are cheap - the "A" buses e.g. A43 etc are more direct and take you to the destination faster than the "E" buses e.g. E22 etc but it's more expensive (just comparatively); while "E" buses would have more stops inbetween.
Just an example for your reference: everytime i go to the airport i'd take A43 (from the northest of HK all the way to the airport), it only costs me HK$28 and it takes only 45-50 minutes.

By far the cheapest way is to get the bus - the terminus is clearly signposted from the arrivals hall at the airport (5 minute walk). Depending on where you want to go on HK Island or Kowloon side. there are plenty of bus choices - most are express services which stop near major hotels.
The service is fast as the taxi. Costs vary between HK$20-40 if I recall correctly.
This is much less than the HK$300 for a taxi (40 minutes to Kowloon / 50 mins to HK Island) or HK$110 for the Airport Express train (20 minutes to HK Station)

Either by bus or MTR (Metro Rail). I would suggest MTR
because you got a lot more choice to your destination,
also if you going to travel around a lot, get a 3-day pass
at the station. Have a nice trip, beware of pick pockets
and Merry X'mas.

"Bus". Nothing else compares. Not even regular MTR ( not the direct express)
The pro, of course, is that it's cheap, scenic and some routes are almost direct.
The con is that it requires learning about which one to take and the timetable varies due to traffic. And depending on the exact location you are going to, it might require a transfer of rides and takes extra time.
