We're planning Greece for Christmas to New Years and really need to know which are the nice places to be in this season... though initially I wanted to do the islands, I'm open to skiing and also want to spend time in Athens.

Anyone travelled in one of the smaller boats (about 20 passengers) rather than the big ones that look a bit like container ships with windows?

Any information/experiences would be appreciated, I tend to be suspicious of brochures.
