There are some excellent ski resorts in Greece, you should/chould try them out. I am not sure they will have snow though, check it out before making plans. If you are going in Athens you MUST visit Acropolis and the Parthenon and as many of the historical sites your schedule allows you. Most hotel employees can help you in arranging it (if you do not have prior plans). Go down to the port in Pireas and have some lunch by the sea. Go out at night, the night life of Athens is very exciting.
As for the islands, even though it is still warm in Greece, do not expect to use your swimming suit... If I was you i would just visit Ydra (close to Athens/Pireas) which is a wonderfoul place, but I would not go to Mykonos, Santorini or any of the other hot islands of the summer.
Have a good time in Greece!!!

I am afraid we haven't had any snow this year yet. The weather has been very lovely. Places to go except Athens are:
1. Egina (nearby island)
2. Delphi and Hosios Loukas (2 hour drive)
3. Nafplio and Epidaurus (2 hour drive)
4. Monemvasia and Mistras (3-4 hour drive, you must spend the night in Sparti probably)
5. Syros- Mykonos (4-5 hours by ferry boat, on the same ferry line, nice islands, won't be deserted in the winter either).
If you are not based in Athens, Zagorochoria, Meteora and Pelion are great in this time of year, but they are not so close to Athens. Email me if you want more details or look them up on the internet.

My Wife and I went to Greece for Christmas and New Years, which is the Geeks Christmas.
I recommend staying in Nafplio, it is a very beautiful citySouth of Corinth and only about an hour and a half from Athens International Airport.
Check out www.untours.com for great deals on a place in Greece. We flew from Portland, Oregon USA to Athens, had a rental car, apartment for 15days for $3000.00 including airfare.
The untours group will have a local guide to point out great places and to help with any problems that might occur.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Hope you have a great time!

I was in Greece in September and October (mainland, Peloponnese, and islands) and the weather was warm and pleasant much of the time, but there were also some fantastic storms! Also, as October went on, during one huge storm the inter-island ferries were cancelled. On another ferry voyage, all the passengers (including me) were horribly seasick due to stormy seas.
Although I continue to love Greece, I'd advise to be prepared for cold, stormy weather and also rough or cancelled ferries (take a pill for seasickness before boarding).

i grew to develop into basically in Athens a pair months contained in the previous. Being an American is not any issue; like optimal places interior the international, in case you behave really and manage the locals with understand, then they're going to manage you ok. Athens is an really commonly used vacationer holiday spot so in a large number of of the places you're waiting to favor to flow you receives by skill of basically surprising with English; decrease decrease back manage those with understand and are not getting annoyed if their English is imperfect, and also you'd be surprising.
