Hi, I went on more than 20 Nile cruises. I first fell in love with egypt and the cruise back in the early 90's. Ever since then I go on one at least once a year. I have been on small, medium and large boats 3,4 & 5 stars.
I can safely tell you that the small ones are not excatly the best, they are usually the cheapest and not so great on some of the luxury. Anyways, Nile boats are no where near as big as the sea cruisers. They are only a fraction of the size, so do not worry about too many people or anything. Most of the big boats have 50-80 rooms and they are never packed.
Now, if you want my personal favourite, try the MS Nile Beauty, cute, medium sized boat, excellent service, great food and I can safely say it is the perfect cruise to take.
Enjoy your cruise

Hi no I did not do the nile trip in such a small boat, but the bigger boats are diffinately not anyway near as big as container ships. They are a good friendly size and my trip was one of the best experiences i have ever had. I would recommend to anyone, i went in 1995 and travelled all the way from australia to do it.

I went on a nile curise this past summer. The ship was called "The pharos" It was amazing. I think it was about 2-3 hrs long including dinner and an entertainment program. You can also stand at the deck, and look all over Egypt. The ship is small, so u would enjoy it. Good luck!

i travelled on the nile on a felucca (tradional dhow boat) and had an awesome time. it was part of an organied tour i did of the middle east, so we were only on the boat for 2 days but it was really relaxing and enjoyable.
The boat captain and his helpers cook breakfast, lunch and dinner for you and the food was amazing.
we stopped off at nice beaches to run around and to eat, and some went on land to see some sights not far from the nile.
All and all i can highly recommend this way of travelling part of Egypt.

Hmmm..Well you can stay on those really big boats that always stay in the same place..the landscape is amazing. Or you can go on one of those small boat cruises that can hold about 10 people! Enjoy the cruise it's magical in Egypt!
