Are you nuts? Why would anyone want to visit Haiti? You must have a death wish. Our maid is Haitian and she just returned from visiting her family in Port-au-Prince. She said the place has turned even more violent and that she was scared for her life. Gangs run amok in the streets. At night she would lie awake hearing the gunshots. Do you know any Haitians? A lot of cabbies are. Ask them to tell you about their country and why they left.

You must have some idea of what's going on, or else why did you book your trip. BTW, August is the worst month to go because the heat is unbearable. Otherwise, there are lots of water sports and shopping.

Cancel your trip. It's not worth the risk. Lot's of dangers...from diseases to kidnappings or worse. Go to "Google Earth" and have a look at the view of Port au Prince. Its the worst looking spot on earth that I have seen. Could you please tell us why you are going there?
