We live in the U.S. and if he takes the job, my mother would go with him. I would stay here because I'm starting college. But I would often visit. We were wondering what are their views on woman and Americans. Especially if they are living there. I posted this in the culture area, and no one really gave me any answers except for what seemed like somewhat of ignorant "out side looking in" style answers. My father is full blooded Samoan, dark skin, hair etc. however my mother is white, blonde, etc. Hopefully what I heard of Egypt is true, that's it's beautiful and safe..but I would appreciate honest answers.
Thanks to all that answer.

You know, those who live in Australia are called Australians or Aussies.

Thanks

The Philippines and Mexico were rather interesting but it has been 20 years since I was there. From your experience what is the best?

This question is for any city, not just Los Angeles, where I live.

I love the fact that people will exercise every morning, running, walking or whatever, but they will drive around the block 16 times to get a parking space in front of a restaurant.

I love the fact that flip flops and bandanas are standard wardrobe items.

I'm going to Solvang, CA this weekend. I'm in my twenties.. what do you think I'd find of interest? I haven't found much online - so if you're from there, spill!

Interest insights: cycling, hiking, dancing, bohemian lifestyle, art, boating/sailing

I love evergreen forests, redwoods, pines, that sort of thing, but I live here in Los Angeles and I'm surrounded by desert... nothing wrong with desert but I sure miss the pines. I want to get away for only a weekend, so I don't have time to go far. Where do you suggest I go.

Also, when you camp, what do you pack? If anything unusual, why?

It seems to be huge in Australia, and from what I heard, Europe.

Why don't people do that in America? I could've sworn I've seen two filthy dudes with huge backpacks come into my local grocery store in Michigan, but other than that, it doesn't seem like people backpack here.

In Australia, you can sleep at hostels, work at rural Outback farms/ranches, and have every one of your backpacking whims taken care of.

Quite odd.

Ok, just kidding, but if I were serious, where would you want to go and why?

I would go to Germany...I've never been to Europe and it seems cool.

My runner-up is Buenos Aires. I think it'd be interesting to go.

Everyone thinks that people who live in Tennessee have a Southern accent, listen and play country music, live in cabins and are just plain red necks.
