I just recently started running longer distances to get ready for a marathon in 08. Bought new Nike running shoes after a few jogs in them, and at around mile 5 or 6 my right foot hurt so bad I had to stop. The outer part of my foot had shooting pains in it, and this continued throught the next few days when I would walk on it... I know I need to see a pediatrist, but do any of you have any idea what this is?

I know with low intensity exercises, it targets fat reserves first. But I'm wondering how long it takes to burn fat during a moderate - high intensity cardio work out? I run on the treadmill a lot, and with my resting BPM probably hit a high intensity range for cardio. If I am running for 30 minutes, will I have targeted some fat cells? Or is it just burning glucose?

I have no fitness program in my lifestyle. I think that running would fit into my schedule the best.

I'm not overweight, but I am so out of shape that two flights of stairs will leave me extremely winded.

I have not been able to find anything on the internet of how to SAFELY start out walking, how far I should walk, should I start out with running a very short distance, etc???? I am just at a loss of what to do.

I know the importance of warming up, stretching, etc.

If anyone can help me plan a schedule, or refer to me one online, I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks!

I assumed it was a hydration issue, but I've had water, orange juice and gatorade. Still have the headache.

I run the 400m Dash for my highschool. I've been running track since third grade. Recently, I have had problems with my knees on the 400m Dash. I start off okay, without any pain, but when I leave the last curve coming into the final 100m of the race, my knees begin to get really tight and heavy, making it difficult for me to pick up speed. I don't feel tired, my knees just won't let me push myself to run faster on the last 100m. When I finish the race, my knees and the back of my knees really hurt and feel tight. I tried stretching myself longer, but it didn't help my knees any. What is this, and how can I prevent it from happening in the future?

I've started to up my mileage in prep for the Paris marathon next year. I've never had back pain before when I run, but it's getting to a stage now where I think I need some help. I've been refered to see an orthapedic specialist.

I have great shoes and always warm up and cool down.

Any ideas to help, to make sure I keep up to speed with the training schedule I have?

Im a high school sophmore, and my 400 time 67. im pretty sure ive done better, but I usually participate in the 4 by 4 relay, so that time is the only one i have on file. How do I decrease my 400 time. I dont really do distance on track, and the only other sprinting event I run is the 200. I did cross country freshman year, but I recently quit this year, and I am not really a "distance" person. I just have cross country like endurance. Based on my events, what do you think I should do to get a better time; im really trying to get on varsity this year, and some of the old varsity sprinters got 63-68 on their 2007 starter 400 time.

I'm 5'8 and I weight 167 lbs, it's safe to say i'm overweight. I'm becoming increasingly aware of it and recently i've been walking to the store and buying healthier things which means staying away from the unhealthy things *pout* Today I made the decision to start running for an hour or so a day, Or in my case it's more like running for 7 minutes than walking for 7 etc... Will this help my cause to loose weight or Is there more i should do? Also i think you should know that after running for 7 minutes i am absolutely run out. Extra excersizes to add on to my routine would probably do me no good because It'd just tire me out quicker and eventually burn out the flame keeping me going. Althought ANY advice/excersize plans/diet plans..etc are welcomed.

P.S How long do you think it'd take me to see results if i keep up my current plan of running/walking/jogging for 45-60 minutes a day?

Thanks =)

Last year during track I ran a 5:01 in the mile and am hoping to improve this year. I got hurt in cross country and was out for several weeks. Is 4:30 a reasonable goal for this next season?

I know I will have to fly to get there, but then from there whats the best and cheapest way to stay by either Centennial Park or The Coliseum because either the starting line or the finish line is where I would like to stay for the race. The other thing I want to know is what is the cheapest fair to get to my hotel coming from the airport I know it can get expensive to take the cab is there subways to take that are cheaper. As you can tell im not familiar in the area but would like some guide on how to get there and stay for the event. Please if anyont can help me out I would appreciate it, I got months to plan ahead.

I have been trying to run for a year but I have trouble with super painful shin splintz and I am curious if I could be running the wrong way. I have heard that eventually shin splintz go away once you have ran long enough but they don't seem to be getting any better...any thoughts?
