I'm 5'8 and I weight 167 lbs, it's safe to say i'm overweight. I'm becoming increasingly aware of it and recently i've been walking to the store and buying healthier things which means staying away from the unhealthy things *pout* Today I made the decision to start running for an hour or so a day, Or in my case it's more like running for 7 minutes than walking for 7 etc... Will this help my cause to loose weight or Is there more i should do? Also i think you should know that after running for 7 minutes i am absolutely run out. Extra excersizes to add on to my routine would probably do me no good because It'd just tire me out quicker and eventually burn out the flame keeping me going. Althought ANY advice/excersize plans/diet plans..etc are welcomed.

P.S How long do you think it'd take me to see results if i keep up my current plan of running/walking/jogging for 45-60 minutes a day?

Thanks =)

Actually, you're doing great!. Run-walking is really good for your heart and it helps you ramp up to longer run times. Plus it is a really good way to lose weight.

My husband is 5'7" and he started running just 10 minutes a day and worked up to 30 minutes and over 2 months he lost 15 pounds (from 185 to 170). He watched his junk food and high fat foods and tried to stay away from all desserts.

It took him 2 weeks to lose the first 5 pounds, then it just came off quickly and slowed down in the last couple weeks. He did add some weight training and resistance exercises like push ups when he started feeling lighter and stronger, and this seems to help him lose weight even faster.

You dont sound super overweight. Personally, I can't stand walking, as soon as you stop, you gain the weight back BOOM!!!!!!!
Try doing Pilates yoga or grab some weights and do some hi rep/low weight exercises. Yeah running is good for your heart and you'll eventually lose weight but a good mix of strength training/yoga won't hurt. Especially in the buns/abs department.
Just remember, expend more calories than you consume and you won't have a problem. Try watching the Biggest Loser. They also have some great weight loss tips on their website.

Running is ALWAYS beneficial. Cardio works out your heart and lungs, which enables your body to circulate more blood, ultimately so you can work harder. When you lift weights, your muscles keep burning calories afterward because they need to rebuild the muscle you just broke down plus a little more. When you run, you're doing easier movements but at a faster pace which burns the calories while you're working out, and is much easier for your body to recuperate. Running is also beneficial for preventing depression, and heart disease!! hope this helps!

I would guess six weeks. But dont just look at the scale. The running/walking will tone u up. Remember muscle weighs more than fat. Concentrate ur .efforts on how u look and feel and not what the scale says. Good luck hun

Change your lifestyle and do this forever. Drink lots of water, walk, run, or swim an hour every day except 1 then do stretching and upper body toning. Eat fruits & vegetables.

No alcohol
no bread
no burgers
No candy
No chips
no corn
no fried foods
No pasta
No pizza
No potatoes
No sodas
No sugar

Good Luck
