7 miles an hour
a simple rule of thumb is to take your minutes per mile and divide that into 60.
Same applies for speed, If you want to do lets say 8 min miles, then divided 8 into 60 and you get 7.5 (that would be a 7 and a 1/2 min mile)

Divide a mile (5280') by the time (8.5 min.) = app 621 feet per minute (Little over 2 football fields and 2 end zones) (considering sprinters can cover 100 yds (football field) in 10-14 seconds, covering 2 + fields in a minute should be easy)
Multiply 621 x 60 ( minutes in an hour) and you go 37,260 feet in an hour Divide that by the feet in a mile (37260 divided by 5280 feet) and you get app 7.06 MPH
7.06 is your running speed to accomplish a 8.5 minute mile. Not bad for a beginner.

If you are running on a track you need to do each lap in 2:07.
That should be a comfortable and easy pace.
