I just ran a mile today (on grass) and got 10 minutes and 10 seconds. Any ideas on how to improve?

I run pretty fast but have bad stamina.
Oh and by the way, I have some extra baggage.

keep running. That's really the only way. I swim, but all exercise based on racing is the same in principal. We did ladders. We would swim a 50 then 100 then 200 then 300 then 400 then 300 then 200 then 100 with about 10 seconds rest in between each. Also doing some lengthy sprint sections will help get your stamina up.

Change your lifestyle and do this forever. Drink lots of water, walk, run, or swim an hour every day except 1 then do stretching and upper body toning. Eat fruits & vegetables.

u have to work a system. u really have to stay persistent. go on long runs and keep doin that till its comfortable at that distance then up the tempo on the same distance. after ur comfortable there increase the distance but not the tempo. after ur comfortable there up the tempo on the same distance etc. u have to run at least 3 days a week to see improvments. but don over do it u have to rest at least once week. u dont see results till u give ur muscels time to recoop. or else u will jus do more damage than good.

Another key factor, soda, do not drink any carbonated beverages, it lowers your O2 max and weakens your lungs. other than that, remember to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth so you don't dry up your throat.
