Offense is loaded. A-Rod, Jeter, Abreu, Cano, Matsui, Jorge Posada.

Bullpen is stacked. Mariano (BEST closer in the game and all time) , joba, farnsworth, vizcaino, bruney.

Rotation is struggling but we all know it will be better.

He was already on thin ice and after that debacle last night, he's definitely in trouble now.

I am seriously asking this because KC has been a thorn in our side this year, and they concern me. I am hoping The Tigers can build off that huge win last night and continue on their winning ways. Everyone's thoughts are welcome.

Okay, Derek Jeter is an obvious first-ballot HOFer when his time comes. However, I'm wondering why so many people think of him as such as a great defensive shortstop. Is it because he made a couple of highlight plays at important times.

When I watch the Yankees, it seems obvious to me that he can't go to his right at all on ground balls. And statistically, these are his ranks among ML shortstops:

Fielding percentage - 16th
Range factor - 19th
Zone factor - 24th

Now, I don't believe any of those are perfect measures, but together they form a pretty clear picture.

Let me begin by saying I think he was a great player and that all the evidence suggest he is arguably the finest defensive right fielder of all time.
But I have read and heard people suggest that he was the finest right fielder overall of his day or even of all time. Have they forgotten about Aaron and Frank Robinson (or Mel Ott or Babe Ruth)? Some people said it was an outrage that he was left off the all-century team.
But he is not in the top 100 all-time in on-base percentage or slugging average or home runs or OPS or OPS+…he is #66 in Runs Created, #78 in runs scored, and #38 in total bases.
Several right fielders place much higher.

And don’t forget that these guys were not defensive slouches, either. But even a great right fielder only saves a handful of runs a year compared to an average one.

A great player, yes, and certainly worthy of the Hall of Fame. He might have been an even better man off the field.

But I think his playing has been over-rated.

I'm just asking... because if I decided to throw our company's most talented person under the bus while coddling someone who was using a substance to gain an unfair advantage, that would get me fired from my job easily.

Old george is probably pissing on his bank book.. And all his star players (overpaid) are hurting big time. When is everyone going to figure it out that big money and big ego's do not make a team? When is george gonna figure it out that he's a loser?

You can ONLY use rosters from ONE of your Favorite teams. EVERY player has to have at one time played for your favorite team.

For instance.. Me being a Brewers fan mine would look like this:

RF - Johnny Briggs
CF - Dave May
LF - Sixto Lezcano
3b - Don Money
SS - Robin Yount
2b - Pedro Garcia
1b - George Scott
C- Ted Simmons
dh - Paul Molitor

Starting pictching

Jim Slaton
Moose Haas
Pete Vukovich
Jim Colburn
Bill Travers

Rollie Fingers

Look , to win the Al East it will take a miracle ,hell to freez over it will be hard but not impossible. The Yankees are still in the playoff race there only behind seattle 2 games so. I just realize its not over you actually think aboubt theres hope . If you want to win the AL east lets be realistic its not going to happen, but the AL wild card is still in the reach of the yankees.

A pitcher pitches a complete game and faces no more than 27 hitters. Several of those opposing hitters reach base, but are either picked off, thrown out attempting to steal, or retired on a double play. Has this ever happened, though it would not be listed among baseball's perfect games?
