You have to have heart to win championships. There's none on that roster. The only incentive to win is to avoid the wrath of their totalitarian owner. It's sad that Yankee fans don't realize just how much their disillusioned, pompous old geezer of an owner has attempted to overshadow the players and the game itself. He's about as likeable as Marge Schott, and suffering from dementia as well. There's no personality on that team, just a bunch of very talented players with bloated salaries and half-packed duffel bags waiting by their lockers in case they happen to incur the wrath of 'The Boss'. The only way they're putting anything on their fingers this year is if they decide to start endorsing Ring Pops.

Can you really call George a loser, he has more rings than any other owner. Where was Boston last October? OH YEAH and Boston hasn't won ANYTHING yet this year. Yankees pitching has struggled this year due to injuries. What's the excuse for Bostons offense? It's also funny how you think guys like Arod are overpaid but if he opts out of the contract Boston will do whatever they can to bring him in.

Some people just don't learn! Every year a few wealthy owners develop a plan to buy the biggest name free agents and take the World Series. So what about teamwork, fundamentals, hardworking role players, developing prospects, solid pitching, etc. Look at last year's Cardinals: pathetic regular season record, only 1 superstar and 1 stud pitcher, a solid nucleus of good fundamental players, a few castoffs, a few rookies, and the team chemistry to win the games that counted. Sorry Yankees, but you can't buy that.

What is very interesting is that their 16 to 0 loss from the Tigers was the most runs scored against the Yanks in a road shutout ever.
I'm not a Yanks fan, but the biggest reason they area 8 games behind is because the Red Sox have been dominating this season.

That's wicked funny. I also must point out that Yankee fans are quick to point out last year's Red Sox "collapse", as they ended up in third place.
Please let me remind you that during late August/Seprtember, the Sox had 4/5 starting pitchers on the DL, and three regular starters in the batting order were also on the DL.
Look what happened to the Yanks the first half of this season with their pitching injuries...

It's way too early to be gloating.
I hate the Yankees, especially Steinbrenner, but to be fair I don't see him as a loser. He had the dominant team in the 1990's, and this century the Yankees have made the playoffs in the tougher league every year. This is a down year for their pitching, but their offense is hardly hurting. It's at or near the top in most measurements.

But the ARE second for the Wild Card. The Tigers are only 2 1/2 games out of first but are third in the Wild Card. It all means nothing till the last day of the season.

I can say the same thing about last year...
What ever happened to the '06 Red Sox who were 8 games back and finished in 3rd place.
Did I brag about the Yankees huge lead last year? No.

George won't know he's a loser until Joe Torre starts asking the Texas Rangers for advise. After that game against the O's, he's got the # on speed dial. ;-) LET'S GO METS!

I wonder if you will feel like laughing after the Yankees get through with the Red Sox in the upcoming three game series.
