When you look at how many years in a row they've made the playoffs, I'd have to say it was money well spent. They are contending this year and may very well continue their post-season streak. I think their payroll is obscene, but I don't think it justifies the spoiled brat attitude of Yankee fans that every year without a Series championship is a failure.
Boston's payroll wasn't that far behind the Yankees last year, and they finished behind Toronto. Assuming the Yankees take 2nd place in the division this year, I'd say they are better dollar for dollar than last year's Red Sox.

Obviously, Yankee fans haven't read the article in the USA Today about the Sox being America's Team. The Yanks do NOT generate the most money for MLB, the Red Sox do. Their road games average more fans than the Yankees do, so take that! The only edge you had this year was your fan base, which apparently is smaller than that of a city 1/4 the size.

I know this doesn't happen often for Red Sox fans, but this season is one of those seasons that the Red Sox are doing good. So, they are having one good season. That usually ends with them losing the next season anyway.
The Red Sox have the 2nd highest payroll and thats only gotten them one championship in the last 80+ years.
Even though the Yankees have the higest payroll, one bad season doesn't make them the worst team. They can afford to lose some money considering how many fans they have.

This is frankly a ludicrous question. It really isn't a question at all, just a Sox fan going on a rant.
The Yankees probably aren't getting their money's worth, but the Knicks and Orioles have already been pointed out as being high-payroll and yet horrible. If I recall correctly, the Knicks actually have pretty well blown their salary cap and yet are still horrible.
The Raiders had a high payroll last year, too, and we saw how bad they were.

As I dislike both the Red Sox and the Yankees evenly I would have to say that any team that spends that much money on supposedly the best players in baseball and still can't win a W.S. or even get to one at least every 3rd year is wasting money. Yankees are definetly the worst team in professional sports if ya go by bang for the buck. Red Sox aren't that far behind though.

No I would say it's the Baltimore Orioles. They have a very large payroll and they still suck
I dislike the Yankees as much as the next guy but at least they have a winning record and have a shot at the playoffs. But $25 million for 45 year old Roger Clemens for 4 months is laughable at best

Although this team is not a Major League Baseball Team, the worst team in Professional Sport has to be the Los Angeles Clippers.

No they are not, they bring in more money to MLB than any other team. When the YANKEES come to town the home fans go see them play. I would have to say the worst team in MLB is the Pirates. They cant get anyone to play for them. Overall professionally, I would have to say that the worst team would be the Celtics, they lost games on purpose last year and that is Pathetic, however that will change dramatically year as everyone knows

According to payroll they are the worst team in the league. Red Sox may have 2nd highest payroll but they are good.

Even though I don't like the Yankees they aren't the worse team in professional sports. That title has to go to my beloved Knicks who spend a ton of money and for what? Consisent under .500 seasons in a weak NBA East.
