The Yankees have a payroll of 194,663,079 seventy four million more than the RedSox (120,099,824)and 100,000,000 more than alot of teams. With having the resources of an all-star team and continuing to be the doormat of the AL east, has Joe had a free ride on his all-star and MVP players to give him the manager record he has?

As an aside ...I guess Im the minority in saying that too me Mark McGwire is not a Hall of Famer, or if he is , he is way down the road, like Vet. Comm. ..Take away his HR's and he accomplished very little. He was rarely the best at his posiiton. led the league in very little, never won the MVP. His most significant stat is his HR's, but compared to the era, it is not out of sight. ALot of guys are going to Hit 500 Hrs. Doesnt make them all Hall of Famers. Hr's are not the be all stat to get in.

Guys like Jim Rice, Dale Murphy, Andre Dawson were more dominant in their time and they are not in, nor close to gettting in.

Not sure who saw this ( assuming many did). As Posada popped up to Howie Clark , A-Rod calls out "mine" as he passes behind him, resulting in Clark to back off (thinking its the SS) and ball drops in. I realize that Clark should be more aware, but Im sure most 3B's would do the same. If he did this, which replays seem to show,,that is very LOW..as Rance Mulliniks (Jays color guy) said..in 17 years he never saw that , ever..

Is anyone else as delighted as I am that the Yankees are in 4th place, 17 1/2 games out, and have lost 5 in a row? If this keeps up, they'll be mathematically eliminated by the All-Star break. Sweet!

I don't understand why Lee Smith is not in the Hall of Fame. Can anyone give me a good reason why he isn't in Cooperstown? 478 career saves. That is more than what Mariano Rivera will end up with when his career is said and done. What else does a guy have to do?

You will have to make a case for your pick to get the 10 points. I think it is Willie Mays, but you don't have to agree with me to get the Best Answer. There are solid arguments for a number of people and that is why I like asking this question.

Tonight at my baseball practice a kid was pitching that usually doesn't and I am on second base when he came set I took off. He then brings his leg up without stepping off the rubber and throws to third base to get me out. Is he allowed to do that or no because you can not throw directly to an unoccuppied base without stepping off the rubber.

Is it hard to root for the Sox this year? (2007) Only 9 of the 23 players have been with the Red Sox for more than one year (or were drafted and are beginning their rookie season with them). Most of the pitchers are brand new to the Sox, and there are 8 players who just came to the Red Sox last year.

It's more like rooting for an all-star team recruited in the last two years than rooting for the home-town team.

Who believes we still have time to turn the season around?! What do you think the team's main problem is?!
I love how everyone's giving us crap about sticking with our team. Like we're gonna just stop being fans because they're going through a rough streak, right.
