also one more thing: 1978. july 29. red sox 14 game lead in al east. yankees come back to win al east via the bucky dent walkoff. so who says we can't come back. i mean, its only may 29th and its 13 1/2 thanks to the today's yankee win/ red sox loss.

It's like cutting down a tree to see how old it is: Just count the RINGS.
Deal with THAT, Red Sox punks! . . . .

Individual statistics are meaningless. Five or six years ago A-Rod won the MVP but his then team the Rangers came in dead last. A-Rod may well win it again, and the Yankees may well have a losing record or finish out of the playoffs. The Yankees may outdraw the Red Sox, because of the size of the stadium. The Yankees certainly have a bigger payroll than anyone. The Yankees have kindly employed a form of affirmative action in enabling any willing minor league starting pitcher to take a turn in the rotation, but better than the Red Sox? Not this year pal.

If you look at the past, the Yankees have been more dominant than the Redsox.

However, they aren't better. Especially this year.

The Yankees have spent over one billion dollars without a world championship in the last few years. Thats well over $100M a year.

The Red Sox, this year, with a payroll $70M less, are 14.5 games ahead of the Yankees in the AL East. The Yankees, currently 8 games under 500, are tied with the Devil Rays for last place.

Despite having nearly twice the payroll of any other team, the Yankees currently pose as one of the worst teams in Baseball.

Also I will throw out a few facts for the poster:

Yankees Record: 21-29 .420 Win Pctg
Red Sox Record: 35-15 .706 Win Pctg

Last Redsox World Championship: 2004
Last Yankees World Championship: 2000

I win. Quit living in the past.

Yankess are better at blowing games and sucking.

I hate it when the mention the number of rings the Yankee have won in their history. It's a great achievement and all but what have they done LATELY? Exactly. It's the curse of the A-Rod! LOL!

All true.

All irrelevant to today.

But at least the Yankees cut the lead down to a mere 13.5 games today.

This is your wake up call. It's 2007. See any standings list, because the only thing that counts is what your team is doing THIS YEAR.
