Not sure who saw this ( assuming many did). As Posada popped up to Howie Clark , A-Rod calls out "mine" as he passes behind him, resulting in Clark to back off (thinking its the SS) and ball drops in. I realize that Clark should be more aware, but Im sure most 3B's would do the same. If he did this, which replays seem to show,,that is very LOW..as Rance Mulliniks (Jays color guy) said..in 17 years he never saw that , ever..

You know the Yankee fans are desperate and have hit an all time low when they condone this type of behavior from one of their players.
The respected Yankees like Paul O'Neil and Bernie Williams etc...would have told him he's an a$$hole for doing that.
Man, can the Yankees get any lower?? A-Rod not only cheats on his wife, but he cheats in baseball. He still has a pitch coming his way this weekend or next series, for cheap shotting our second basemen. Don't think the Sox pitchers have forgotten that.

I did not see the game, but if this is the case, it is pretty low. A-Rod has a history of cheap shots and dirty play (ask the Red Sox first basemen) so it wouldn't be a surprise. While I don't believe it is specifically against any rules (unlike mimicking the snap count in football, which is a penalty), it is definitely unfair. I think a swift bean ball to the rib cage would be the correct retaliation, if A-Rod wants to play dirty, play dirty.
Speaking of dirty players, did you see AJ Pierzinski try to cleat Morneau on Sunday not once, but twice. The Twins did retaliate by double stealing (yes both second and third at the same time) twice with a large lead and by giving the White Sox a solid beat down this week.

Give me a break. You don't think that stuff happens all the time?? If you watched the replay he said one little word, not "I got it", like most people think. If that distracts a player from catching a ball, then they have no business being in the big leagues. I was watching a Yankee game recently, and a Yankee player was safe at second on a double. The second baseman made like the throw got away, trying to fake out the Yankee baserunner, I believe Cabrera. Stuff like that is part of the game, always has been. A-Rod also did not call out "mine", if you read his lips, it looked more like "HA", and that was indeed what he said he yelled. I'm guessing you are a Blue Jay fan, and I also bet you have no problem with the Blue Jays' PA system making distracting sounds when the opposing team is on the field.
Also, who cares if the Toronto Blue Jays were mad? They are just the Toronto Blue Jays, no one cares about them outside of Canada, and they just hung around and pouted because they didn't get the sweep. I laughed at Little Johnny McDonald, like he would really take on A-Rod! He was yapping like a little dog when the umpire was BETWEEN him and A-Rod LOL!!! And Gibbons, the guy who fights with his own players was walking away like a little sissy.
If it wasn't A-Rod who did it, you wouldn't even have asked the question, because it was no big deal. Clark should have known better, it shows why he's a career minor leaguer. Who the hell cares what Rance Mulliniks said? He's just a career platoon player who couldn't carry A-Rod's jock.

Well to be honest it was F^+*ing great! None of the people reading this nor most of the people who are not, would be that heads up to do that. 1st, this is the bigs... If you do not have some sort of code worked out with your SS then your a moron. These people are playing for millions of dollars! 2nd, if Josh Phelps or another lesser known Yankee did this, it would be a quick blurb, but because it is A-Rod, he will catch hell from it. And 3rd and final, The Yanks have gotten a lot of calls against them for the past month, way more than the average, so you know what, a bounce finally goes the Yanks way, I say Salut. A-Rod is the best ball player in baseball in the past 10 years. And he has done all of this with 3 teams and no JUICE!!! If you did do it A-Rod, A. Funny as hell & B. 1 For the good guys!!! I am sure I will not take any heat for this post. LoL

Clark was called up earlier in the day, so saying that Clark should be more aware isn't realistic. How can he be expected to know the voice of a team mate that he's barely met, let alone to distinguish one voice from another, over the crowd?
Here's my point. Rodriguez' very carefully cultivated image is of that squeaky-clean, always respectful guy, the one who is nothing but class. Yeah, right. Twice in less than 24 hours, he's blown that one right out of the water. Squeaky clean, always respectful doesn't step out on your spouse, either.
He may well have once been that person, but he's spent far too much time around Mike Mussina, who seems to have never been that at all. This type of disrespectful behaviour by Rodriguez, towards his family and towards the game, is declasse indeed.
For shame, sir. Your mother taught you better than that.

What is this Golf?!?! These guys get heckled all the time. This is the Big Leagues get over it. These are the best baseball players in the world and if that throws you off your game you aren't very good. The guy said "HA", not "i got it, i got it, i got it." You guys might as well start country clubs if your gonna cry about this.

As a huge Yankee fan, this is tough to say. A-rod will do whatever it takes, including cheating or doing something immoral (in baseball standards) to win. We saw it against the red sox (trying to slap the ball out of the glove at first base), or throwing elbows, and I've witnessed this behavior from him on numerous occasions. Bad form from a superstar!

He's A-Rod, what do you expect. I'm not just saying the cuz he is a Yankee either, I've seen him do other very deceptive things. Like during the ALCS ( I believe, or some other time they were playing the sox) I actually saw him reach out and bat the ball out of the first baseman's hand so he wouldn't be called out! Obviously the first base ump saw this childish action and called him out anyway..but this doesn't surprise me at all!
proudtobemexican: where did that quote come from...the Yankees handbook??

its not like its illegal to do it. some may say its low and ruins the game of baseball and all that other shyt that the announcers of the blue jays said. lets just say if it was the blue jays who did that what do you think they would be sayin. they would be laughin at it and not say a single thing about it.
i see it in baseball but not with the 3rd baseman but with the second baseman as runners go by him.
as player of team sports you do what it takes to win the game. you play to win the game.

If it worked he should do it EVERY TIME!!!!!! Its like a defensive tackle yelling out "HIKE" to confuse the offensive line. If any 3rd baseman, 2nd baseman, whatever falls for that one, its his fault and it doesn't make the baserunner "low" or whatever. I think that is funny, I didn't hear about that one till now. Now I have a little more respect for A-Rod. Besides, when your team has a record like the Yankees, you should do whatever it takes to win. That ain't cheating. A fan bringing a whistle to a basketball game, now thats low! Or how bout that smart Mets fan and his flashlight? LOL
