It was Satchel Paige and the reason that the Athletics brought him back in 1965 was to vest his MLB pension since virtually all of his career was spent in the old ***** League before integration with Jackie Robinson in 1947.

He's on the New Yor Mets right now. Julio Franco, born 8/23/58 is the oldest position player, IDK about pitchers.
