I have a Trek mountain bike that was shipped to me dissembled. I have put it back together mostly except for the pedals, every time I try and screw them in the don't seem to catch on the threads. Do I need a special tool or something? I have tried using standard pliers for better grip without much luck!

A municipality in my area has decided to outlaw the use of any firearms or bows and arrows. There are many areas within the municipality that are rural, but fall under their jurisdiction. Do they have the right to tell someone what they can and can't do on their own property? Their goal is to restrict anyone from hunting within the jurisdiction. I contacted the Fish and Game commission and they said that the state has complete authority over all hunting but many (power hungry -my words) municiplaities will enact anti-gun/anti-bow laws to get around the states authority. What if anything can be done? Is this unconstitutional?
I can understand if they want to restrict firearms for safety, but I cannot remember anyone being killed by a bowhunter.
If their argument is for safety purposes, they should first outlaw all bars in the area. A woman was recently killed by a drunk driver in their jurisdiction. Obviously, safety of the citizens is not priority # 1.
No antihunting answers please

Ichito had a seven year career batting average in Japan of .353 and a total of 1,278 hits. This is his seventh year in MLB and he has an additional 1,539 hits here and will finish this season with around 2,900 in his baseball career to date. At his current pace he would smash the career hit record of Pete Rose and finish his career with around 4,500 hits. In his seven years in MLB he has never had less than 200 hits in a season, never hit less than .300, never scored less than 100, and has averaged more than 40 stolen bases per season. In addition to all of this he just might have the strongest and most accurate throwing arm in the game today, he is a great teammate, a total team player, great in the dugout, runs out every groundball at full speed, never argues with the umpires, and has never been tossed from a game in his entire career. Can anyone tell me why he should not be considered the best all-around player in the game today?

I recently read an online sports blog that posed the question of whether Motorsports in general should be considered a sport or just a competitive activity. The responses were mostly directed toward auto racing drivers and that you couldn't consider them to be athletes compared to Football players or Soccer players since they use a machine.
While I do understand that point of view, I have to make the argument that pro Motorcycle racers are indeed "real" athletes. Muscling a 240 hp machine around a racetrack for 25 laps takes a great deal of strength as well as endurance. Some ride with injuries that would sideline an NFL football player for half a season! They cross train in motocross, bicycling and running among others. Even Michael Jordan speaks about the athletism of these riders. I consider them to be some of the finest athletes in the world. What do the rest of you think?

I'm told that running on worn down shoes causes a lot of damage to your feet. How can I tell when it's time to buy a new pair?

i was recently struck by a motorist while riding resulting in minor injuries and a destroyed bike. i was riding against traffic (i know wrong... only option) riding with traffic takes you directly onto a restricted acsses freeway. against trafic allows acces to surface streets after about 200 meters. i was struck head on by a motorist as the motorist was turning right out of a parkinglot. the exit ramp gives a very clear veiw of the shoulder on which i was riding. the driver was turned around watching traffic looking for a clear spot to pull out while the vehicle was still rolling. he never saw me . he was stopped at the yeild sign but chose to proceed while looking behind him.
i am not interested in sueing for huge amounts of mone but i loved my bike and would like a new one. do i have a leg to stand on leagaly since i was riding against traffic with out other options?

I was told it was an awful long time ago and thinking about it I really have no idea who or how long ago it was. I'm a Newcastle United fan so I know it can't have been us. We've not won it since the 1920's!
If anyone knows please help, thanks
