why do some baseball cleats have 9 spikes and 7 spikes?

Depends on the surface you are playing on. If you want better traction then go with 9. If you have more spikes you can twist your ankle easier and that would suck.

Yeah, u got more grip in them so you wont slip when say the pitcher is trying to pick you off and you slip and dont touch the base and your out. Just better traction.

Probably a designer thing....Probably to be different or to say one is better than the other. I would try both on and see which one you prefer wearing.

For whatever reason, the designer will probably argue that those number of cletes maximizes the grip.

Personal preference. Same as boxers and briefs, what ever works best
