Yesterday I asked a question about pitchers apologizing when they hit batters and most of the answers implied that apologizing was a sign of weakness.
Given that, and the outrageous behavior exhibited by some athletes in other sports, and the fact that some fans go to games hoping fights will break out, has winning at all costs become the credo in professional sports today? Do fans really look down on players who try to maintain some sense of honor and who behave like gentlemen? Or do they prefer athletes who behave badly of and off the court, rink, or field? Any thoughts?
