A stubborn one that is very sensitive to temperature? I am going on vacation with this person in a week, and I want to enjoy it without worrying that he isn't...because it will involve swimming and snorkeling.

Adult lessons can be a bit more complex than child lessons and a week is not much time. It's best left to the pros! The YMCA offers fabulous adult swimming classes and private lessons you may try upon returning. During the trip, talk about learning to swim and plant the idea in his head so when you return he's all about it.

Since there is no time for lessons beforehand, make sure this person is aware of the activities that will be taking place on the trip. Get excited and ask if they are excited ebcause snorkeling is so fun. You don't have to siwm much to snorkel, more like float. Also, look into alternative activities for this person at the place you will be visiting. They may have a glass bottom boat tour or some really fun older-adult oriented activites that he could participate in and may feel more comfortable doing. Just be encouraging and maintain a positive attitude no matter how cranky he gets (trust me, old men get cranky about everyhting!)

Good luck and enjoy your trip!!!

I am a swim instructor at the YMCA and every case is different. So I suggest going to the Y and having them sign up for private lessons. I am not sure on how much they cost, but seven lessons come in one session. You can use all of the lessons in the week before you go on vacation or use most of them before hand, and use the rest afterwards.

Pool Noodles? heavily, I have no concept, yet i might decide to tell you a sprint tale from my college days. I took a swimming classification in college as a phys-ed non-compulsory. the class grew to become into taught by utilising the soccer coach, and one in all his gamers grew to become into additionally interior the class, so the participant had an incentive to be a real circulate-getter to impact the coach. The participant grew to become into equipped like a fireplace plug, and wasn't very buoyant. whilst we've been interior the shallow end of the pool, he'd walk around the pool, yet with lots of splashing arm action. whilst we've been given to the deep end of the pool, he'd bounce in, yet right this moment initiate sinking. The coach might could desire to apply a bamboo pole to tug the guy to the exterior. i do no longer think of he ever found out to swim, however the guy grew to become into tremendously appealing for something of the class to observe.
