I want to take up skateboarding because a ton of cool people skateboard. but i'm embarassed to practace in my neighborhood because the only people that skateboard here are annoying little 8 year-old boys who are loud, obnoxious, and i don't really want to be seen with a pathetic crowd. I'm with that crowd enough??

A skatepark is a terrible place to learn how to skateboard anyways you'll just end up in the way and everyone will hate you. :Learn how to skate before even attempting one of those places. A garage, or basement or even an empty parking lot is a great place to learn how to skateboard. I'd go with the empty parking lots it's a bigger area, you can skate next to grass in case you need to jump off. In the summer I use to go to empty lots and skate at night when it was cooler outside and nobody was around, cept the cops like to bug you if you do that but it's not illegal unless no skating is posted, I used a park parkin glot because I know it'd be alright. Don't be scared to skate by yourself, sometimes thats how I like it best. Good luck

You don't need to skate with any group of people. You can pratice a lot of tricks in front of your own home by yourself. Our city doesn't even have a skatepark, kids just skate on their own street or, depending on your age, skate the streets of the city. But you need to start with a flat suface. Then you can use the curb for some tricks. Find a couple of people your age who know what they're doing and practice, practice, practice. And have fun.
