Is he playing for a middle school team, or a recreational department/Pop Warner team? I only ask because in some leagues there is a weight limit for a ball carrier, usually being around 105-115lbs. Find out the rules for the league. MLB sounds good, but at that age the kids usually play both sides of the ball.

Teach him to be aware of the things going on around him on the field and he will make an excellent MLB. Don't let the coach just throw him on the line just because he is a big boy at his age.

MLB or FB
I was his size at that age and those are the positions I played. Ofcourse i was always the best on my team but from what you said i think he could play FB extremely well.

You call him a TE with average blocking? Better to use the tackling and size on defense.

Height at that age is advantage at QB. His throwing will improve with practice.
