Why must theists repeat this inane argument?: "God is like the air. You can't see the air, but you believe in it. God can't be seen, but he is believed in just like the air!"

Let's start with our senses. We can smell and taste the air. We can see, hear and feel the effects of wind (i.e., moving air). We can MEASURE many physical characteristics of the air with instruments and in different ways (temperature: themometer; pressure: barometer; wind speed: anemometer; water content: hygrometer). We've determined what air is made of: 78% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.038% carbon dioxide, etc.

God can't be observed or measured by scientific instruments like the air. God is NOT like the air.

So... can this argument stop being used? How ignorant do theists using this argument have to be?

They pray 5 times a day which is a nice dedication i think...
But I noticed that they all pray in Arabic!
Chantes from mosques are all Arabic.
Of course I am talking about non arabic muslim countries such as Turkey, Indonesia etc...
Chantes are for calling people to pray. Whats the point of chanting in a language that no one understands??

Okay, so I am not trying to offend religious people in any way. But i'm just curious as to why some religious people completely ignore scientific facts that have been proven, and still believe what is written in the bible?

For eg: scientists have re created the arc in which Noah built, and have proven that it was impossible to fit the amount of animals on it as he did.
Yet people still believe this, is it ignorance?

It seems everyone can describe Hell in a very detailed format but no one really describes heaven at all. Most just say. "well uhhh its eternal bliss." but that doesn't cut it.

If there is a heaven what would you expect it to be or does your beliefs describe it in anyway?

A lot of them are quick to "warn" me about my fate. It's hilarious, I'm no more scared of their scriptures than I am of the 2012 prediction of the world's end. I remember this drunk woman once told me she was a which and that I better watch out. She got so angry when I laughed, to me it's about the same thing.

I am a ew for Jesus and I think that muslims today are not really practicing the true teachings of islam. Part of me wants to hate them for the terible things they have done, but the other part wants to have mercy on them for their lack of understanding.

Help! And I thought I was going to church with some saintly Christian men. No! They seem to think it's an invitation to reach out and pat my rear whenever they get an opportunity; in the isles, in the pews, back in the janitor's closet. Don't they know that lust in the Lord's house is specifically prohibited in the scriptures? What can I do?

Ive read the bible a few times, but what I really dont get is why christians hate homosexuals so much. I know that in the bible it spacifically says that behing homosexual is wrong, but dont you realise how many times the bible has been translated, interpreted, and how many books have been taken out? Who's to decide whick books are important or not. But, that is besides the point. My question is, why do christians judge and hate homosexuals so much? If god did not want there to be homosexuals, he wouldnt have made people homosexual. Also, does it not say in the bible that it is not our place to judge? Does it not say that we are not the ones to say who will be damned? If god is a forgiving god, why wouldnt he forgive you for being gay? I am pansexual, and I am a christian. I have had church doors closed in my face because of this fact. Why do so many christians take it into their hands to tell me I'm going to hell for who I love, and judge me before they ever know a thing about me!

And of the scientific progress thwarted by religious belief? Boards of people in the Catholic church wasting their time asking whether something is scripturally sound. Then there is all the time wasted by nonbelievers having to be PC about the issue. Religion has been somewhat of a black hole in some respects. I won't argue that some good things haven't come out of it, but it's still amazing to imagine were we'd be if it weren't for it.

I don't have a concordance and was wondering if anyone did out there. As in, on for a Bible. I need a verse that has the word "fierce" "fire" or "flames" in it and I don't want to just flip through the whole Bible trying to find one.

Anyone know of an online one, or want to find me a verse. No need to actually write the verse out. Just a simple John 3:16 would suffice.
Thank you greatly!

I've been a Christian all my life, spent almost every Sunday at church and currently have been going to church for the last 2 years every Friday and Sunday. Lately I've been questioning God although I know I shouldn't. It's just I've been told that I'm to take the bible literally. There's so many unanswered questions that I have been asking but my teachers either give complicated answers or avoid the question in general. If we deserve hell in the first place than why do people in third world countries and millions of people around the world never have a chance to know Jesus Christ, they all go to hell, eternal suffering it makes no sense I would think they would rather not be created in the first place than suffer in hell eternally. Also cavemen and primitive people have been proven to be in existence yet Adam and Eve were supposedly the first to be created. What about dinosaurs, and Noah's Ark? Are we suppose to believe that all the animals in the world were put on a ship and saved?
