And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen.

Why is God going to sent an angel down to slay me, cause I get drunk? This is who your worship. I'm trying not to be rude, but this offends me that you live by a book of a God that plans on having me killed for having a little fun in life.

Consider this possibility:

At some point in the future, we discover intelligent life on another planet, but the planet contains TWO forms of intelligent life. (For example, in appearance one resembles our marsupials, and the other is similar to our bats.)

They exist peaceably with minimal interaction because they live on different portions of the planet & are active at different times of day. Each species has achieved its own kind of language, culture, technological advances, & religion:

~The marsupials are polytheistic, believe in reincarnation & consider the bats as simply a different form of sentient life.

~The bats are monotheistic, do NOT believe in life after death, & consider the marsupials to be a lower form of life.

Would sending a missionary expedition to this planet be worthwhile? Why or why not?

If you were a missionary, what would you believe your mission to be? To whom would you go first? What would your message be? Please give reasons for your answers.

and I think I wasted my money.

The hype around this movie was an example of religious insecurity that was as typical as Nicole Kidman's dry and lifeless performance. The story was fair (at best) and more than a little weird. The "anti-religious" message behind the movie that attracted sooooo much attention, was so over the top that only an IDIOT would think ill of their religion after seeing this movie.

My take on this was don't go see the movie- it was a piece of s#!t.

Anyone else feel the same way after seeing this?

What I mean, is if you spend a lot of time searching God's word with an open mind and open heart, asking for the Holy Spirit's guidance, to wind up with a wrong understanding of scripture?

I am not saying to believe everything a pastor says, but to take various idea's from various denominations and examine them, with prayer.... and then still come to a wrong conclusion?

I would also appreciate if you would list the various religions/denominations you have searched in. (In the sources area would be helpful) Thank you.

Are their lives actually effected by her tv show?
Or are they just trying to change things to their will?

ok,im really torn,i have a baby and am living with an abusive husband(hes not abusive to the baby)
hes also not been ''physically'' abusive since she was born

we are very isolated,no friends,family
I know if i dont get out of this soon..idk..i have no quality of life

I know this is not good for the baby, but my only option is to go to a shelter,is that selfish of me?? because, the baby will lose all her toys, and the compforts of a home?
ive heard bad thinhs about shelters and im not sure,if i go

will i be jumping from the frying pan to the fire?
and since hes no longer physically abusive,am i being selfish to put my baby through all this, just becaue i want a better life?

im afraid of the shelters,im also afraid i can no longer survive mentally living with my husband??

btw..he will never change,or go to a counseler or anything like that..I know this cos its been 10 years!!

btw.hes all the family ive ever had(thats one of the reasons i never left earlier)

I am a Christian, but I am studying Islam in my world history class. One thing I'm not quite clear on why Muslim women have to be clothed from head to toe when out in public. Doesn't it teach in the Quran that both men and women are equal in the eyes of Allah?

Not believe, or have faith in Jesus. Where does it say that we are to "accept Jesus Christ as our personal savior"? Where does it say just what that is? I can't find the phrase in the Bible anywhere, yet many Christians say that is what we are to do to be "saved". So where does the Bible describe this??

...would one day come to christ and be saved?
And did it work? What did it take for the person to finally come?

I ask because.. well I want my bf to get to know christ but.. i dont thinkhe understand the importance of God and church and getting to know god/jesus... yes i tried to explain.. and he says he's not going to use the bible to base his life off of how he shoudl live, he has his on beliefs, and he is apart of another religion also (yes i know im not supposed to be unequally yoked but.. oh well), and I have taken him to church a few times.. he liked it but since it wasn't his religion he didnt want to keep going.
i mean, what do I do? I dont want to force him, or make him come to church (he doesn't want to go.. i had plans for us going on thursday and today but he changed his mind)
well what do I do?? and do i need to pray aboit it ALOT or just pray 1 time and then now worry about it anymore and just believe God will do something? Should I just forget about it

I keep seeing on here JW's take no offerings in church. My first question is why? And my second question is how do you pay for the church utilities, pastor's salary, and other needed things. Do you guys just give money at other times?

I know in that Paul told the churches how to take up collections so I can't see there being anything wrong with it.

1Co 16:1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.
1Co 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

Do you feel you would find christianity and many of it's followers less off putting if it stuck to the teachings of jesus without Paul's hate filled rhetoric and associating itself with yahweh, the monster of the old testament?

i am a Greek Orthodox Christian (who is completely open to making fun of his own faith, and the faith of others. sorry, but closed mindedness isnt my thing.), and it has always bugged me, why do we use the cross, the instrument of the death of Jesus Christ to identify ourselves? i respect that he died for our sins, and am spirtually indebted and inspired by that, but shouldent we focus more on his teachings and ressurection than his death and torture? ive heard the reason from a relative a while ago, but for the life of me i cannot remember.
i have the innate feeling though that ive already answered my own question. oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained
thanks for your time.
and to my dear atheists, i love it when you guys respond. please, feel free.
