Taking my cue from my Christian neighbors, I've had my head in the sand now for over a week.

I was just wondering, how far and how long do I need to stick my head in the sand before I get a glimpse of God?

a lot of people are very hypocritical - they wouldn't dare say a word against the beliefs of muslims or jews but they have no problem railing against christians even to your face. how do they justify this?
also, why do so many people seem to care so much about it? you'd think they would have their own belief and just be able to leave well enough alone, but a lot of people i know who are atheists seem almost obsessed with christianity. is it fun, is it the 'in' thing to do nowadays? do they have some psychological problem? i don't get it.

Does the fact that a child lies a child disobeys, with no teaching from anybody, wasnt taught, wasnt encouraged to lie, wasnt told to lie;but of the childs own free will, chose to lie(more than likely cause he/she realized the negative consequences of telling the truth);chose to do evil and not good. Does this not disprove the thought or idea that people are naturally good?

I'm quite sure that if I went and surveyed a 100 parents, and asked "Did you any anyway teach your kid(s) to lie?To be deceptive? To be dishonest? To be unobedient?"
I'm quite certain, very sure all of them will answer no to those questions. So how can you say people are naturally good? We're not, nobody has to teach us how to be evil, but it takes considerable time and effort to shape people, mold people, and encourage them to be good.

WANTING to be good AND ACTUALLY being good are 2 different things;people by no means, from the bum on the street to the president of any country, people by no means are....

Is this contridictory? Is it possible that God exists, but no one has recorded his or her thoughts correctly? I have not read any other religous texts, but some parts of the Bible make little to no sense in my opinion. Does a non-sensical Bible disprove God, or could he still exist?

You have been choosen and a few thousands to leave Earth, a planet that will be destoryed of all life on it.

There are millions of people that will be left behind but out of the millions serveral groups of people where choosen to havea chance of leaving the planet. Why did you choose each person? What good will they be to this new planet?

Also the planet is unknown.
Only choose five.

An Asian pregnant women
A 5 year old black boy (male)

A 70 year old female

A singer
A soilder
An elderly women (tells stories)
A pregnant white female

"That notion that things can just get changed is scary for a lot of people who worry that a church with a very strong authority center could influence a public leader by suddenly getting a new revelation that has an impact on public policy." This was said by Rev. Mouw, of the Southern Baptist church, about the LDS church, and having a Mormon in the Oval Office. My question is, what revelation could POSSIBLY impact public policy to THIS degree? I don't know what revelation could possibly be this important?

Do you have any ideas?

Does it really affect you, atheists? If you really believe what you say you do, according to what I know about it, you have no reason to care what other people believe about religion! If it doesn't hurt you, and it doesn't hurt those who do practice religion, why do you spend so much time trying to convert everyone else to atheism?

why do you bother coming on Y/A and debating?

Don't say it's because religious people are annoying. That's not a thoughtful answer.

"Some groups such as Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses appear to attract a large number of converts ("in-switchers"), but also nearly as large a number of apostates ("out-switchers"). It is also interesting to note that Buddhists also fall into this category of what one might call high-turnover religious groups."

Human being, evil in nature, will go to hell if he doesn't believe in Jesus as the Saviour.

What about an insane person who may not know himself, let alone knowing Jesus as his saviour.

If you say "yes", you are not a true Christian/Catholic/whatever, because you are supposed to love everyone.

If you say "no", you're a human worthy of the name, because you have a heart.

Christians lately seem to be rather upset to share thier holiday with you, but we pagan don't mind. You will get another 11 days of celebration and Christians aren't allowed because they weren't invited. You want to share Yule? We don't mind. And we won't ask you 200000 times a day why you celebrate either.
