First of all, scientology is not a religion. It's a dangerous cult pretending to be a religion to gain credibility from the public and to make it easier to get new members. So there is no need to compare it's false doctrine to real religions - that also may seem alittle out there but they are beliefs and the faith of the people who follow them. They are NOT bases on one deranged man making up rediculous scifi stories about aliens and their souls and calling it a religion.

HAHAHAHA
I haven't heard that one yet. What cartoon was that one on? Pods? Really?

The "aliens" in scientology is supposed to be because the guy that started it was a scifi writer. But the head of their church says they references were just him using what he knew to make analogies. It's not their "beliefs".

If you check Xenu.net (Clambake, the top anti-scientology site) of if Zero Cool the expert researcher posts, you will see that they explain the lack of scientologists responding because all of that alien stuff is "secret" knowledge known only to the top members. So 99% of scientology isnt supposed to know it. Like asking christians if they belief that Jesus was married which is supposed to be secret knowledge at the churches top.

They believe aliens were brought here on a spaceship similar in design to a DC-9 and the big, evil alien threw all of them into a volcano in Hawaii, now their spirits roam and possess us or something like that, thetons I think they're called. This religion brought to you by science fiction author L. Ron Hubbard.

When you step back - all religious myths seem pretty nutty but.... I gotta admit - alien souls, silent births, no psychology, paying lots to reach the next level, down on homosexuality, converting others.... = nutty

While I think Scientology is hella stupid, I see people talking about spirits of angels.

I see no distinction in craziness if you believe in magical spirits, whether it be that of angels or aliens

you should google operation clambake. it's the best site i've found for telling you about scientology, and it lets the scientologists have their say as well. it's well written and he has done a lot of research which he cites. it provides links to scientologist and anti scientologist sites. i could spend hours (and i have) reading the stuff on this site.
