Where do you get the Idea that Buddha is a type of God. The Buddhists are very clear that Buddha was not any type of a God and that he was simply a smart man who came up with a workable philosophy about living in the real world.

Nobody who knows anything about Buddhism thinks Buddha is a god, false or otherwise. Buddha was a teacher as far as Buddhists are concerned, and as other posters have noted, there's no god or theology in Buddhism.

Only people who have absolutely no knowledge about Buddhism would think the Buddha is a god. Gautama the Buddha never once claimed divinity.

Strictly speaking, Buddha is not a god. But since many act as if he is, I will have to say that yes, a false god.

buddha never considered himself to be a God, or a divine being of any type, rather he considered himself to be a ‘way-shower' for others. only after his death was he exalted to God-like status by some of his followers, though not all of his followers viewed him that way. with christianity however, it is stated quite clearly in the bible that Jesus was the son of God
