would be better off spent on the third world.

the average church has had over £300,000 spent on it a year. thats enogh to feed three african villages for a decade.

the number of water taps is a better indication of health and happiness than the number of churches.

so my question is why: why all this money wasted on a being that nobody is sure even exists, when there is a worldfull of problems that need sorting out?

Just a thought but what did they do with the teddy bear named Muhammad? Did they destroy it? Put it some place where it will be treated reverently? Rename it? Just kind of curious what happened to the bear.

If you didn't know, Anne Rice, returned to her Catholic roots a few years ago. She will now only write books about Christ. He first one was, Christ the Lord. Excellent read!

Ok well I'm writing a religious satire novel and I want to see what people think about my idea. It's about a girl who writes a collection of stories about a ficticious planet and the people living there, and in a parallel universe, this planet exists, making her their God. The problem? They're all having a massive holy war. Anyway, they manage to find her and bring her to the planet, and of course she's horrified at all the religious extremists doing horrible things in her name. It's sort of my idea of how God would react to the stuff people do in His name all the time, whether it's murder or telling kids their going to hell for what they read. (I'm a massive harry potter fan, can't you tell? :)
So what do you think? Controversial enough? Yes, I know the parallel universe thing is cheesy and overused, but hey, it was the only thing i could think of, work with me here:)
Comments from ANY viewpoint are appreciated!

If you were somehow (let's leave the details to your imagination) to be in a position to have world power. Decree laws and such.

Would you, as an atheist, ban churches or religion?
Would you, as a believer, ban all "other" churches or religion?
Would you, as an agnostic, change anything about religion, it's practices or those who do not believe?

Why or Why not?

if your destination is the same...why can't there be multiple ways to go? I don't get why you argue....

How do you get to heaven?

How do you get to cedar point?
(depending on where you start from, there are a number of different ways to get there, by boat, by helicopter, by plane, by car, by bicycle, walking, not to mention infinite paths that you could take to reach the same destination)

personally i don't buy any of it, but i wonder if you all have the same destination, who cares what path you take to get there?

I just answered a question with a brief yet complete answer. I then spent the next 5 minutes repeatedly clicking the Edit button and adding to it. Then the thought entered my mind about the General Conference talk last GC where someone said something about giving a brief answer, not the entire history of the church. (I'm paraphrasing, but that was the general sentiment.)
So do you find yourself giving too much information in your zeal to provide a quality honest answer and realize later that you could probably condense a two page answer down to a few well worded sentences? And if so, do you ever go back and fix it? I'm all for giving something other than a one word/yes - no answer, but I sometimes notice that my answers go from well crafted, to rambling on and on. ...kind of like this question.
Am I alone in this?

I am not atheist, I love and believe in God. However I love Satan, too. He also believes in God. However he believes God is wrong and has logical proof. Thus Satan isn't evil in my eyes. God isn't evil in my eyes because that would be like biting the hand that feeds you. In fact, I don't see evil in anything except evil. Those who see evil in me, are as correct as Satan, when he sees evil in God. I am not perfect. I did not create the world. But I judge no one, so they will not judge me. I do not judge God, only the logic behind his actions. I admit that I am by far in a different existence than all my brothers and sisters. I exist in the world of non-existence. Some of you know what I mean, most do not. Some will know, most will never.

Time will tell if my prophecies were that of a true prophet, or that of a false prophet. Not even I know the truth to that. All I know is that I do not create truth where there is none. I only show you what I see. Be aware: peace is found in death.

Did Jesus Christ like women?

i'll lay off the christians for a while. when was the last time someone was imprisoned for naming a teddy bear darwin? what is wrong with people? i'm referring to this whole debacle over some teacher in sudan naming a teddy bear muhammad. i have to say though, as much as i hate extremism like this, it does help shed light on the dangers of religion when taken too seriously. can i get some muslim opinions on this issue. what's your take on it? i mean if it was just some whacko overthere who went crazy over the issue, i'd wouldn't be as surprised. but this lady was sent to prison, which means she had to go to court, plead her case, and was found guilty of a crime which merited prison time. pardon the expression but, jesus christ!!! what's wrong with these people?

In the movie the Golden Compass, Adam and Eve KILL God. I thought Atheists didnt believe in God, or that he has never existed. So why would an Atheist find it necessary to harm Christians. Im not a christian either, nor an I an Atheist, but I find this behavior appalling at best.

are religious people supposed to be accepting of others beliefs and forgiving and blah blah blah? but yet when ever there is a religous movie, no one cares, another movie. then some movie comes out with witches, magic, anti-god, no god, and all of the sudden some religous groups go nuts and want to boycott, and so on and so forth. (not all, some) so tell me, whats up with that?

In other words do you think forgiveness is freely given or is there work required to be forgiven?

Is there a limit to how many times you can commit a sin and still be forgiven?

Please No insulting comments to non-mormons and NO Mormon bashing in your answers. This is an attempt to clarify thoughts on forgiveness.

I find that both inane, and ironic. Though I don't really what to hear long logical answers of how life is all about experiencing things. If life is all about experience then learn to be happy in the world you live in and stop preaching to those who reject your lifestyle.

People say hateful things and they should really learn to cope with the reality that is, instead of trying to make this world be something it will never be.
