No! They will twist scripture around and tell you they embrace the Bible. But if you study the facts you will see otherwise.

I tlhink their founder met the lord or something like that in the woods, i saw that on a special. You know I have had so much going on i have not had time to do my homework on any of the candidates. If Mass elected him then can he be that bad. I know someone put up a question "Will he be swore in on a mormon Bible?" I thought, well let's see the Muslim guy was swore in on a Koran,s there yo go. Judging from the thumbs down here he is in the ball park with Hillery, but not sure why. I saw athoher one where they lived in Missouri and where attacked and many killed and they left and when to Utah, but left enough peope behind to build a beautiful church. As a kid we used to have a couple of young men in whie short sleeved shirts on bikes ride by and talk sometimes to all of us. Never seemed to far out. But i will have to look more into this, but they seem to be ok. Although have noticed that some other religions have a holy one here on earth, so I guess it's in the way you see it, but looking at the answers you just have to do the homework. I haven't heard anything bad about them. Although i was wondering why PBS was running these documentaries all of the sudden. They had one where some wagon train came through and they got them. So don't know if they was a throw back t the hostilities of Missouri or wha, but thought it strange for PBS to be running that kind of stuff, must have known Romney would run, although I would never think PBS had an agenda, duh. I'll scope it out, but will take a while. Take care.

If even the Ustase and their friends in the White House (today) consider themselves "Christians", then why not the Mormons?

Some individual Mormons will certainly be Christians, but in spite of the Mormon religion, not because of it.
The Mormon denomination purports to be Christian, indeed, singled out by God (but which one, you might well ask) to receive and be the custodians and imparters of new revelation, because all the other Christian denominations were corrupt and cast off by God. Their founder, Joseph Smith, had angelic revelation and gold tablets given to him (which have been lost - careless) empowering him to gather a following of God's chosen ones (all white people) who were told they could become gods of their own planets, populated by themselves and multiple wives. If the foundation is built on sand it is not built on the Rock - Jesus Christ.

Unequivocally no they are not Christians. This is not an insult merely a differentiation.
At the very core of Christian belief is that Jesus eternally existed as the one true God. In unity and equality with God the Father.
This is who Jesus said he was. If you do not believe about someone what they claim, than you cannot follow them.
Thus they are not Christian. They believe that you can become a god as well. This is far outside Christian orthodoxy.
There are many many other reasons but this is fundamental.
Again it is just wonderful if they wish to believe what they do. It is simply intellectually dishonest to claim to be something that by definition you are not.
Even if I bury my feet in the dirt, paint myself green, wear a pointy hat and stand real still, I will never be a sprig of asparagus. That does not mean that there is anything wrong with being what I am.
--edit I honestly don't understand what the draw is for JWs and Mormons to claim to be Christian. Many world religions have beliefs about Jesus and yet they are secure enough to admit the differences.
Islam, some Buddhists some Hindus have their beliefs about who Jesus was. Yet they are not Christian because their belief about Christ is not the same as ours.
This particular question is not asking which is right and why, simply, "are there any differences?" There are many.
Jesus said he was God while on earth. If you are educated at all in the scriptures, this is not even a question. So, if you don't believe him than you simply can't claim his name for yourself.
To the poster who gave the definition of Christian as following Christ's teachings:
you can't claim to follow the teachings of Christ if you believe him to be a liar or deluded. Not only does he state that he is God but the rest of scripture supports this claim.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormonism) is a beautiful Christian religion. Because Mormons believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ and consider Him to be the way to salvation, they are clearly a Christian denomination. It is true that they are not an orthodox denomination (they are neither Protestant, Catholic, nor Eastern Orthodox), because they don't accept the post-New Testament creeds, but their Christ-centered theology clearly qualifies them for the Christian label.
Most objective scholars agree that Mormons are Christian. Consider this quote from an academic book entitled “Anthology of World Scriptures” by Robert E. Van Voorst.
“…the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints…see themselves as Christian, and most experts in comparative religions would view this labeling as basically correct. That they…accept the Christian Bible as their first cannon is a good indicator of this. Moreover, “outsiders” to [Christianity], such as Buddhists, would almost certainly recognize them as belonging to the stream of Christian tradition.”
Likewise, a recent poll showed that the majority of Americans believe that Mormons are Christians.
You should be extremely careful when trying to learn about Mormons from others. There are many who hate the Mormons and spread lies, distortions, and conspiracy theories about them. Others think they understand Mormon doctrine because of "what they've heard," but are actually misinformed.
Because Mormons are Christian, we believe in most of the things that Christians believe, including:
1) Christ is divine and salvation comes only through Him.
2) The Bible is the word of God.
3) Men ought to love one another.
Mormons are a unique branch of Christianity, however. We are neither Catholic nor Protestant, so naturally we have some different beliefs. Most of the differences are minor. One significant difference has to do with the authority to act in God's name. Mormons believe that soon after the death of Christ and His apostles, the early Christian Church was greatly influenced by Greek and Roman philosophies and political pressures. Despite the efforts of many good men and women, the true Church of Christ was eventually lost because of these outside pressures and internal, man-made changes. Mormons believe that God reestablished the original Church of Christ in 1820 through a man named Joseph Smith.

I don't see what difference it makes. I'm tired of the fairy tales and religious control freaks. One religion is just as bad as the other. To me, the tenets of Buddaism make the most sense (other than the re-incarnation thing of course).
I believe there is a God, but I don't put much faith in what humans have written about him/her.
Ancient humans were just as intelligent as we are. They were absolutely capable of coming up with the bible. And, in my opinion, most of it was written as a means to control other people. It serves organized religion.

What is a Christian? Merriam-Webster defines it as:
1 a: one who professes belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ
Mormons believe that the Bible is the word of God and that Jesus Christ is the savior. I think that would fit that definition. If you have another valid definition, I would be happy to examine the beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in that context.
See: http://www.exmormonsforjesus.org/Articles/are_mormons_christians.htm for a contrary view.

Yes, we do like to think so. :-)
Here's an interesting short article on the subject from a scholar in the Mormon church:

And here's a press release from the Mormon church on the subject:

I would have to say no. They believe that Jesus & Satan were brothers. That they can become gods and rule their own planet. That God was once like us (human)
Can you find any of that in the bible? no, it can only be found in the book of morman. so no, I do not believe they are Christian.
