Religious doctrine is the only form of input for the human mind that comes with the requirement that all other knowledge must be at best managed, at worst denied outright so that it doesn’t conflict with the doctrine. Isn’t it a students soul obligation to fill their minds with knowledge and isn’t the best way to do this to start with an open book/blank slate approach? Does religious “knowledge” apply severe limitations to a students potential to learn?

"To make all of this even more astonishing, all of this growing, shaping, and sculpting takes place in the first 20 weeks or so following conception. From 24 weeks of pregnancy on, everything gets bigger. But the main transformations are already past."

That quote, from an article, shows that a baby developes right away, very soon after conception, read the rest of the article to see more.
My thought is, If the baby is so developed that eary, and is growing from a day or so after conception, meaning it is alive, then is an abortion murder?
In your eyes, what do you think, I already have my opinion, I want to see what everyone else says.

Thanks.

does that mean the devil is better than nothing?
and since we know nothing is better than god, by associative law of mathematics, if a > b and b > c, the a > c, does this not also mean the devil is better than god?

Dr. Thomas Barnes, Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Texas at El Paso, has published the definitive work in this field.4 Scientific observations since 1829 have shown that the earth's magnetic field has been measurably decaying at an exponential rate, demonstrating its half-life to be approximately 1,400 years. In practical application its strength 20,000 years ago would approximate that of a magnetic star. Under those conditions many of the atoms necessary for life processes could not form. These data demonstrate that earth's entire history is young, within a few thousand of years.

The machinery of a cell are called protein molecules. The simplest cell in existence has 239 protein molecules. Protein molecules are made up of several thousand atoms, and has anywhere from 124 to 2000 amino acids, the average being 445. In order for these to work they have to be put together just right. Amino acids need to be arranged in exactly the right order if the cell is going to work.

DNA in the instructions for the cell. The protein molecules and amino acids cannot communicate with the DNA without the RNA. An average DNA will contain four billion bits of information.

If you number 10 pennies 1 through 10 and put them in your pocket the odds are 10:1. The odds that you will pull 1 and 2 out in order are 100:1. For the first three to come out in order, 1000:1. The odds that they will all come out in the right order are 10,000,000,000:1. Now we have a simple cell with 239 protein molecules containing 124 amino acids. The odds for that coming out right are 10 to the 137915th power to one, and that is with human assistance. What are the odds that it happened by itself?

i think God is very upset, because of this. He gave reason to all of us, and he gave salvation only to those who give up sin, not to those who take pills.

and besides, one cannot say that the psychologists etc are inocent people empowered to give advise..

, and considering that there is just as much factual proof to support radical Islam as there is to support radical environmentalism, and then considering both have the same agenda, the destruction of America, its freedoms, and its people’s way of life, then why do we tolerate the environmentalist pushing their religion into our schools, upon our children?

Why would God give instructions for the littlest things like what to eat and what one can and cannot do during the sabath and yet did not bother to condemn slavery as a matter of fact instructed people on how to treat slaves. He said it's ok to beat them as long as they can get up in a few days.

Exodus 21
20 "If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, 21 but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property. . ..

Jesus said nothing about it. don't tell me it was the time. God doesn't have to wait for the right time to do anything.

There is no God.

I'm not an atheist, but personally, I refuse to believe that anybody goes to Hell. I think that the bible talking about Hell is just something made up to scare humans into worshipping God. And as for those near-death experiences where people claimed they've been in Hell(Bill Wiese, for example), I believe that yes, Hell may be real and he may have really been there, but I think God was just scaring Him and those "people" who he seen, I think either God made him believe those were people or they were fallen angels who shape-shift into suffering people. I refuse to believe that a "loving" God would just let someone be tormented in Hell forever without end and without hope. If they are in Hell, I believe there must be an end to the suffering EVENTUALLY.

The most popular argument against gay marriage seems to be that it is against God, nature, and society. But isn't divorce seen as just as bad from a religious perspective? Maybe I am wrong on this, but it seems like Christians should be wanting divorce to be illegal, just like Gay marriage.

It is hard for me to understand Christian positions on marriage, so I am looking for some help here.

2007-12-07 08:13:11 · 15 answers · asked by Take it from Toby 7

I was going to start this by talking about right-wing Christians, but after a little thought I realized this could apply to any religion.

Why do people think they need to impose their views on others?

Example:
Christian conservatives want to ban gay marriage and go further if they could. If they believe in God, isn't it good enough for them to think these people will burn in hell?
Why even bother? If they believe in God like they say they do, why not let him(or her or it or whatever) take care of it?

I believe in God and realized that until I fix myself (which is never) I don't have time to try to fix others. Help others, yes. But not "fix" them.

What do you think?
