I was a gothie kid in high school, and I am quite agnostic, thank you. The other gothie kids I hung out with were an eclectic mixture of christians, agnostics, pagan/wiccans, and one taoist.
It is the only place I have ever seen people of those faiths coexisting peacefully.
Gotta remember, 87% of statistics are made up on the spot. Make sure they make sense when you make them up, kay?
Besides, I was a gothie kid because I'm prettier than most women, and I looked damn good in fishnet shirts, leather pants and black makeup. And I'm male.

Oh, yeah, right. "Sounds true". Yeah, you get me? Like how it sounds is the main thing and sh*t. The main thing, the other thing is to see if people agree. If they do then its sorted: its deffo true.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Look. Someone made up a statistic and you like the sound of it. That is all. You have no basis whatsoever for thinking that most, or even many, atheists are pretending to be atheists for appearances sake. It would be nice for you if it were so: you could dismiss the intellectual challenge posed without further thought. Unfortunately there are cogent arguments for atheism. I recommend "God is not Great" (definately NOT Dawkin's 'The God Delusion' which is terrible) or, if you really want to get into some quality discussion Hume's 'Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion" or Russell's "Why I am not a Christian". Neither of these people adopted atheist to look 'different' or 'goth'.

You are truly an idiot if you believe this. I would bet you are in third grade.
The majority of atheist are usually science minded people, not gothic people.
If you wanted a religion that goth people would follow to be goth that would be Wicca, (the Wicca they follow is not like the real Wicca at all)
Have you ever met an atheist? If you did you would say no, because atheist believe in atheism, and you believe in well you didn't say but I am going to guess you are Christian. And I would also bet you lived in the south too.

This is a rdiculous lie. You are quite wrong to believe such silly stuff. I am an atheist, and I know many atheists. I do not know any who are atheists merely for the sake of being different. I don't want to look "Goth", whatever that may be. I know about Alaric and the Visigoths in History.

An opinion is just that...nothing more. Without facts to establish it as accurate, an opinion is meaningless except to those agreeing with it. It doesn't appear that "goth" has anything to do with atheism, and it is highly unlikely that 90% of the atheists are doing it simply to be different.

I am an atheist simply because it is what I truly believe to be the only true idea. Since when is being different, or being a goth something that a person wants to be?

You must be in highschool... A lot of highschoolers tend to think Atheism (along with veganism or the "straight-edge" movement) is a sign of non-conformity, so they get excited by it.
These days, and especially on the internet, declaring your Atheism is a quick way to establish a sense of intellgence. It's all about your Ethos when you are preparing your delightfully rude and obligatory condescending "Christians probably believe in the Easter Bunny too" essay for your forum of choice...

No.
Are 90% of christians being christians because it's what everyone in their community is doing, and to fit in?
Probably, but I'm not going to pass it off as fact.
Most atheists were brought up religious but decided that it didn't fit their world view. This is how it was with me, Catholic till I turned 21.

I've only seen one foul atheist who fit into the stereotype, and that was on youtube.
I'm a dork. I go to Renaissance festivals, play D&D, listen to classical music and '70s experimental music. I don't think I fit into the goth ideology. I'm much closer to hippie.

Yes, and I'm sure 72% of scientists just want to be "goth" as well. Do you seriously believe anything someone tells you?
The only reason you agree with them is because you want it to be true.
