Is the Bible the "pillar of truth" in the Christian religion? No. According to the Bible Itself, the Church is the "pillar of truth" (1 Timothy 3:15), not the Bible. Some "Bible" Christians insist that a "pillar" (the Church) was created to "hold up" another structure (the Bible). They claim the Bible is the structure being held up according to this passage. Well, if that is the case, how did the early Church "hold up" the Bible for the first three to four hundred years when the Bible Itself didn't even exist? Also, even if the Church is only a "pillar" holding up the Bible, doesn't that mean that the Church is the interpreter of Scripture rather than the individual?
Is private interpretation of the Bible condoned in the Bible Itself? No, it is not (2 Peter 1:20). Was individual interpretation of Scripture practiced by the early Christians or the Jews? Again, "NO" (Acts 8:29-35). The assertion that individuals can correctly interpret Scripture is false. Even the "founder" of Sola Scriptura (Martin Luther), near the end of his life, was afraid that "any milkmaid who could read" would found a new Christian denomination based on his or her "interpretation" of the Bible. Luther opened a "Pandora's Box" when he insisted that the Bible could be interpreted by individuals and that It is the sole authority of Christianity. Why do we have over 33,000 different non-Catholic Christian denominations? The reason is individuals' "different" interpretations of the Bible.
Can there be more than one interpretation of the Bible? No. The word "truth" is used several times in the New Testament. However, the plural version of the word "truth" never appears in Scripture. Therefore, there can only be one Truth. So how can there be over 33,000 non-Catholic Christian denominations all claiming to have the "Truth" (i.e., the correct interpretation of the Bible)? For that matter, aren't ALL non-Catholic Christians as individuals claiming "infallibility" when it comes to interpreting the Bible? Catholics only believe in the infallibility of the Papacy as an office. Which is more believable - one office holding infallibility or 400 million non-Catholic Christians who can't agree on the interpretation of Scripture all claiming "infallibility?" When it comes to interpreting Scripture, individual non-Catholic Christians claim the same infallibility as the Papacy. If one were to put two persons of the "same" non-Catholic Christian denomination (i.e., two Presybterians, two Lutherans, two Baptists, etc.) in separate rooms with a Bible and a notepad and ask them to write down their "interpretation" of the Bible, passage for passage, shouldn't they then produce the exact same interpretation? If guided by the Holy Spirit as Scripture states, the answer should be "Yes." But would that really happen? History has shown that the answer is "No." Now, in the case of Catholics, the Church which Christ founded and is with forever (Matthew 28:20) interprets the Bible, as guided by the Holy Spirit, (Mark 13:11) for the "sheep" (the faithful). The Church (not individuals) interpret Scripture. In Catholicism, Scripture is there for meditation, prayer and inspiration, not for individual interpretation to formulate doctrine or dogma.

JW's CHANGED the Holy Bible to fit their agenda

Why do you find it hard to accept that people of different faiths think they have the truth? Mormons believe what they believe or they wouldn't believe it...same as any other faith. If you think a particular bible is interpreted incorrectly state your reason why. I happen to believe the NWT published by the watchtower bible and track society is one of the most accurate. (The Catholic Bible being another one)

They don't make some lame excuse as to why they don't pronounce the name of God. (As do most other translations) The Catholic Bible uses the Hebrew pronunciation of God and the NWT uses the Latin. Since the name of God was used more then any other name (the name Abraham only appears about 200 times in the bible yet scholars have no problem on how to pronounce his name) there really should be no reason why they would substitute "LORD" or GOD" instead of his name. (Most use the reason not sure how to pronounce it...lame...since most names they don't no for sure)

As far as interpreting...Let the Bible do that...

Nope, the Watchtower is not our God – nor are any of the organizations publications. We do not claim infallibility and have had to make changes in the past, also many will come in the future most likely. Would it be logical for an organization that has had to change to claim they are 100% accurate on everything? No. The Watchtower has brought this out before; we are not Profits only fellow slaves.

No, the society often quotes others in support of their teachings, including the Catholic Encyclopedias.

The New Catholic Encyclopedia states: “The formulation ‘one God in three Persons’ was not solidly established, certainly not fully assimilated into Christian life and its profession of faith, prior to the end of the 4th century. But it is precisely this formulation that has first claim to the title the Trinitarian dogma. Among the Apostolic Fathers, there had been nothing even remotely approaching such a mentality or perspective.”—(1967), Vol. XIV, p. 299.

Many different ones know the truth, and published it through out time.

Isaac Newton prove the trinity to be wrong in his day.

I find it interesting that there are many answers here from JW that state that the society says read the bible, and yet, then if the Bible is all one needs, then why do they spend countless amounts of time, energies, and monies into publishing supplemental publications???? JW's are encouraged to study the bible ONLY with THEIR publications? WHY one would ask? Because they believe that only their organizations' publications can teach you what the Bible says.
From the time of their president CT Rusell by his own admission as well as others since, you have to study the bible with their publications or you cannot understand the bible.

That is PARTIALLY true.....you have to use THEIR publications to understand THEIR interpretation as one could never get the lies they write from reading the bible.

The helper that Christ promised for his followers was NOT the WBTS--it was the Holy Spirit. Asking for and receiving direction from the Holy Spirit is the ONLY way to understand and interpret the bible. The WBTS' stand is that only their governing body has that spirit......SO UNSCRIPTURAL!

Of course not, otherwise few if any would be becoming Witnesses. Others get things right about the Bible, and are attracted to being Witnesses based on seeing the truths we teach.

The Watchtower magazine is only a bible study aide.
The magazine does not interpret the Bible.
It does however help one understand various Bible topics.

No, of course not.

Jehovah's Witnesses understand the bible itself to be the only inspired infallible means of knowing God's will and purposes. They never pretend that bible study aids (such as The Watchtower magazine) are more important than the bible itself.

Jehovah's Witnesses unceasingly admonish their adherents to read, study, and meditate on the bible itself at their own homes with their own families. The Witnesses have long cited three INDISPENSABLE actions by true Christians:
1. Pray
2. Read bible
3. Preach

Those who attend the meetings of Jehovah's Witnesses will likely note that nearly everyone (adult and child) can comfortably and quickly locate each referenced Scripture during the talk. Other bible-study aids may be used by the audience during the meetings, but never even approaching the ubiquity of the bible among Jehovah's Witnesses.
