Abu Dhar (R.A.A.) said: I came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم while he was wearing white clothes and sleeping. Then I went back to him again after he had got up from his a sleep. He said, "Nobody says: La ilaha illa Allah (there is no God but Allah,), then dies while believing in that, except that he will enter Paradise". I asked: Even if he had committed adultery and theft. He said, "Even if he had committed adultery and theft". I asked: Even if he had committed adultery and theft. He said, "Even if he had committed adultery and theft". I asked: Even if he had committed adultery and theft. He said, "Even if he had committed adultery and theft, In spite of Abu Dhar's dislikeness". [Bukhari].

Hi Man, salamo aleikom at first, seen you've been getting some really weird answers:/ and some good ones too:), so my Opinion is, there isnt a specific Surrah that will help you, Al Quran Lima Kore'a laho... The Quran is for what its read for, so what ever surrah you read, if you read it for the hope to be better and to say Sorry to Allah, it will work:) and about the Imam thing, i prefer the Live advise, so go to the nearest Masjid to you, on any day not just Friday, and ask the Imam for advise, or ask one of your friends or family about a good Imam, to be sure that his advise will be a reliable one, Ok:)
And BTW Confessing you want to be a better Person is already half the way, God will help you Insha' allah... Have Fun Being on the right track again;)

there's no such thing as a person who is consistently bad. As human beings, we have the dichotomy of good and evil...so you shouldn't be too hard on yourself. In the Quran, Allah is a merciful God, this means that he gives many chances to redeem yourself. As long as you are aware of your bad deeds, and you pray passionately to better yourself and to become closer to God then you will be well...

pray the 5 prayers on time every day
read the quraan esp the last 2 verses of surat albaqara and ayat alkursi at dawn and sunset as well as almo'wathat: surat alikhlas, surat alfalaq and surat alnaas.
say as mentioned aaootho billah min alshaytaan alrajeem
the devil fools you into thinking you cannot undo the mistakes you have done , but istighfaar and returning with a true intent not to do it again as well as prayer and helping the poor and those in need all helps rid you of your sins
keep yourself busy with good people , never gossip about others or harm anyone
to ask a scholar:

www.sultan.org ( it has toll free numbers as well )
don't forget that the harder thee obstacles the more rewards you get for being a good muslim and it's never too late to return to Allah. self jihad is the greatest jihad where you fight the urges to make mistakes and everyone makes mistakes, the good people are those who repent ( tawabeen)

My dear muslim brother, you are already on the way to attaining forgiveness since you've taken the
1st step, which is acknowledgement of your sins, the
2nd step is to sincerly ask Allah for the forgivness (by simply saying "ASTA-GAFURU-LLAH" which means O Allah forgive me in Arabic.), the
3rd is never to return to your sins.
Fear not the size of your sins, just make you've sincerely repented.
Here is a hadith: "O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it." (This is a Hadith Qudsi 34)
A Hadith Qudsi is a Hadith said by Allah through Our Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W)
