Why do you think that is? How does the bible say that God and men should view women?
Did Jesus Christ like women?

I do not believe that was ever God's plan or does it have anything to do with religion. It was God's plan to bring forth other humans. One had to be pregnant so the other worked to support that person who spent all their time caring for an infant.
Some men are mean and that is to bad it gives men a bad name. But all men are not wicked and violent.
Nor do they treat women badly. A christian man it says treats his wife as his own body. As the weaker vessel.
Just as I do not believe it was God's plan for some men to be mean to animals. Just because they are smaller and helpless. It is our duty according to the bible to care for all God's living creatures and treat them as we would want to be treated. I think when you are mean to women you will definitely answer to God.

"The CDC defined this as.............or emotional abuse......." Hmmmm, that's a pretty big loophole. How exactly do we define emotional abuse? They conveniently don't say. They also don't say how they obtained the data. Was it from surveys, police reports, convictions? That makes a big difference. What would a government agency have to gain by lying? LOL. Government agencies tend to answer to government officials on some level, and elected officials have political agendas. While I would generally trust government reports, domestic violence has become the new McCarthyism, and these radical feminists wield a lot of influence through fear mongering. For the record, I don't know or care which sex is abused more. Justice should not be based on statistics. A victim is a victim, and gender should have nothing to do with justice. That's like saying, "Well, if there's a fight between a black guy and a white guy, statistics show that the black guy is more likely to have started it. Therefore, let's tip the burden of proof onto the black guys to protect innocent white guys." We are Americans. We do not administer justice based on what the statistics say about a person's group. We administer justice on an individual-by-individual basis.

Well, any society that follow the Bible is inherently patriarchal - Christians swear up and down that God is sexless, but you call God a "she" and they're all over you with "It says HE in the Bible, God the FATHER," etc. The Bible itself is heavily biased towards men, look at how women are generally portrayed it in, and therefore its followers tend to view women as secondary (Eve was created second, remember?). There was a question on here yesterday from a woman to women pastors asking them if they liked sinning and following Satan, and quoting the book of Timothy to prove that women were not supposed to have anything to do with leading religious services, because we're the wicked ones and not worthy of teaching the word of God. Only men are good enough for that. Need I go on? Because I could.

Women have suffered because men did not want to follow the example of Jesus. Jesus taught women and talked to them publicly, he engaged in discussions with them as people with brains and hearts and feelings. The Bible says that in Christ there is neither male nor female. Those teachings have been ignored and we have paid the price for it. Women should speak up and let it be known they expect to be treated with respect and dignity in the Christian church. If the men have a problem with it, then they are the ones with the problem.

There are plenty of churches that teach and practice equality. If I were in one that didn't, I would find another church.

Edit--Pig, in the original language it reads "Dear Woman." The word was a term of respect, he wasn't dissing her.

"Man enjoys the great advantage of having a god endorse the code he writes; and since man exercises a sovereign authority over women it is especially fortunate that this authority has been vested in him by the Supreme Being. For the Jews, Mohammedans and Christians among others, man is master by divine right; the fear of God will therefore repress any impulse towards revolt in the downtrodden female."

--Simone de Beauvoir, The Second Sex 1949

"The bible teaches that women brought sin and death into the world, that she precipitated the fall of the race, that she was arraigned before the judgment seat of Heaven, tried, condemned and sentenced. Marriage for her was to be a condition of bondage, maternity a period suffering and anguish, and in silence and subjection, she was to play the role of a dependent on man's bounty for all her material wants, and for all the information she might desire... Here is the Bible position of woman briefly summed up."

Patriarchal/domination culture, from which Judaism, Islam, and Christianity arise produce a certain conception of gender and women's roles. Feminist theology has, successfully in my opinion, attempted to show that Christianity can be as valid from a Partnership-based cultural perspective and that to support this we should be including the sacred feminine aspect of God - Sophia, God-as-Mother, etc.

Interestingly, CG Jung viewed the adoption of the Marian dogmas (Assumption, Immaculate Conception of Mary) by the Roman Catholic Church as a psychological watermark that indicated the suppressed feminine was breaking back into the Christian consciousness.

I think that the battle of the sexes is a two way street. Consider the entertainment business where women often display themselves in various states of undress because they get attention that way and because it sexually stimulates the men. Then they are offended if the man acts in a physical manner.

I think its ignorance. The lack of knowledge that women are equal beings, just as important as men.

Jesus was nice to women and he didn't put them down.
and he liked children, when grownups were mean to them and tried to prevent them from coming to him he prevented them from stopping the children.
Men just like to be mean to women, because they can.
Some men are bullys and they are mean to other guys to.
But God hates bullys.
