Yes I know its more of the Golden Compass *drink* but these Christians who are boycotting it based on what others say is annoying me.
I'm a Christian and I've read the books and I plan on seeing the movie. You can say I am giving money to a god hating atheist all you like. I'm guessing that of all the people who worked on this film and some how get paid from this fill are not all atheists. Some might even be Christian.

You can not seriously debate a thing if you do not know a thing.
So how many intelligent believers will see it then judge its effect after that?

and please atheists no comments about there are no intelligent Christians..

though you can have a drink on me :)

Is there any point in religion or does it just cause wars and give people false hope that a big god is looking over them?

support life here on earth?
Considering all the gravitational forces existing: the rotation of the earth, the orbit of the moon around the earth, the orbit of the earth and planets around the sun, the solar systems journey through the galaxy, the galaxy’s journey through the universe and the universes continuing expansion. Seems to me that they are all perfectly placed to support life here on earth.

I know this question should be asked under a science category but most of you claim to have extensive understanding of matters of complex scientific theory, where simple fundies like me only understand the WORD of GOD.

And please use your own words not pages of cut and paste dribble. The way I see it, if you can’t explain it in your own words then you don’t understand it yourselves

Since man cannot establish any fruitful legislation that would curtail the wicked. Through Gods mighty power (nature), This has been acheived via the wicked weak weeding out the wicked weak. So thank God for this, dont question the plan any longer.

I'm just watching 'Deal or No Deal' (ok I'm sad) I think this is a quiz game that relolves around gambling I can only think that Asma Patel is a muslim as she is covered from head to foot! and just announced she doesn't drink. Is this against the faith. or maybe the quiz show isn't centered around gambling.
another case of Duel standards?

Does anybody else think this is obnoxious? I've had a whole bunch of people tell me how the third movie is going to end without warning me beforehand that they were telling me the ending. I didn't see this happen from people who opposed other films with a religious subtext like "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe."

Doesn't this seem inappropriate to anybody else?

Do people not realize that by telling others the end they're depriving them of the intended surprise?

Or do they not care because they that those of us who watch it are evil atheists who don't deserve the joy of watching a movie that agrees with our beliefs without knowing the ending?

The reason I ask this on R&S is because The Golden Compass is frequently discussed here.

No need for the insults here. We should all learn to get
along, in this world. You go your way, I go mine.
There is no need to waste time, trying to get a specific
group of discouraged individuals, who are cold, sad,
and lonely, to believe in the Truth of The Word. :)
They are good people, too. And need love.... So my
intent is to bring us together, as 1 big, happy family.
That is what us Christians do best, create harmony, not
discord. Or at least that is the way it should be. So my
Atheist friends, do not patronise.... Dont hate the players.
Hate the game. And if you just look around you, realize
that you are very few in number. Who is confused again ?
Best answer wins. ~~~

the book of luke makes reference to jesus growing in knowledge. but how can this be? if jesus is god and god is all-knowing, how can an omniscient being learn more than what it already knows?

i heard of a religion that believes that jesus is the son of the devil, not god. and that tricking man into believing in him is turning people away from god.

to get back to god we must get rid of all crucifixes, because they are the sign of the devil.

is this true?

The bible says man has caused man injury (Ecc.8:9)Jer.10:23 says man cant direct his step. If the bible clearly says man cannot rule man, why do as a Christian vote for another man?

Unbelievers say that the idea of God came from man. So then it would be simple. But with the Trinity and the idea about how there is a 3-in-1 God isn't simple. And since it isn't simple, they --unbelievers -- don't believe because they can't grasp it. Yet if they could, then they would say that it was from man. So just wondering, what do you guys think? This is to both Christians and un-Christians alike.

I have seen so many times on YA - things like 'if Christians actually followed Jesus' teachings would non-Christians respect them more'......or 'All muslims are terrorists'.....etc etc

Do you judge people by one person's standards or actions?

i.e. if one 'Christian' does it - they all do it

I feel my coming out is imminent. It's reached a point where my mother, who is a hardcore southern baptist, pretty much knows I am not an atheist and I can tell she is pissed. I also have a cousin and uncle who are preachers. She and I will be having a discussion in a few days if not today, and I don't know what to say other than "I don't believe in any gods" or to ask her "what's so special about YOUR god?"

Please help me argue or share your experience or whatever you can to help me.
